Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

First Fixed Gear...Specialized Lancaster Comp?

Debating about buying a fixed gear or single speed for riding through the winter. I currently own a specialized Roubaix and like the Specialized brand.

Any thoughts on the Lancater Comp or suggestions for a good single speed/Fixed gear for a noob to ride through the winter in the Northeast?

winter in the northeast? try riding in a Jeep.

An IRO Jamie Roy might be another choice if you're looking to AL for its' corrossion resistance.

Frame Saver + a towel to wipe it down afterwards. Keep washing your bike, road salt eats Al too.

entry level langsters suck like any other entry level bike but they're still underrated
