When you got road rage get your gun

Luckily I wasn't with my friends when this happened, I bailed a few hours earlier. My other friend was with the two women, he was too drunk to deal with the cops so they didn't catch his name.
The headline pisses me off, but not as much as my friends getting shot at.

Driver warns non-compliant bikers with gunshot
Coastal Empire | Intown | Local News
Savannah Morning News | Sunday, October 1, 2006 at 12:30 am

Two men who got antsy while waiting on bicyclists to clear the roadway pulled a gun rather than going around the cyclists.

Preliminary police reports indicate two women, riding their bicycles near the intersection of Jones and Habersham streets at 3 a.m., say two men in a dark-colored Honda approached them from behind and yelled for the women to get out of the road.

When they didn't comply, the driver pulled a gun and fired one shot in the air and then fled the scene, heading south on Habersham.

Two Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department officers, while interviewing the victims, wrote in the report that a vehicle with a similar appearance approached the officers with its lights off. One of the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it accelerated at a high rate of speed.

Officers weren't able to get the license plate number, but the report indicates it may have had handicapped access plates.

don't you just love savannah?

figures. i had some homies in a caddy follow me on my ride home the other night yelling at me and saying **** like "yeah you better run" while revving their engine at me and swerving over to the left side of the road where i had moved to let them pass on. i took a left down the wrong way into a square to lose them. what the **** is wrong with people in this town? i love the people that yell "get on the sidewalk" and try to run you into parked cars on 37th or even Broughton.

who were the two girls involved?

Savannah, GA???? This is messed up. Probably my worst case scenario when I meet a crazy driver on the road.

the gentrification seems to be taking an opposite effect. **** is getting worse and its ****ing annoying. I'm going assume the person you are talking about is Lynda? I don't know her roommates name.

haha. yeah. very small world.

it's always tripped me out that you can go from being annoyed by having a horse in your way, to being annoyed by having a gun stuck in your face, all on the same block.

kind of wild, I put up the band Black Tusk a few weeks back (any of you know them?), and they were telling me that savannah was a great place for bike riding, didn't say anything about guns...

a very similar situation happened to me in tucson while I waited in a turn lane, though nobody pulled a gun. they did try to punch me out the passenger side window and then steered into me-- luckily not enough to knock me under the wheels.

what a load of ****.

I've heard of them, jsut nothing by them. Biking here is easier than any other mode of transportation. It takes just as long and in most cases longer to get places by car. Parking a car is a *****. There are lots of guns here. Its ****ty riding you bike at night and hearing guns shot of a shady neighborhood or shady block. ****, the projects are safer than a lot of blocks here.

definitely not rednecks doing the shooting.
it's a cool city for riding...minus the coblestones...and the guns...and the relative lack of destinations to ride to...and the fact that despite the overwhelming number of bikes, people still have no clue how the **** to deal with them, which leads to me nearly getting hit 4 or 5 times a week...other than that stuff, it's cool.
black tusk are the homies.

All the rednecks I know shoot deer, pheasants, elk and the occasional bear.
I haven't had a gun trained on me since I left Oakland.

i lived in oakland, philly, ny and detroit and none of them made me feel less safe than i do here. there's a special kind of ignorance that only seems to exist in the south. i don't know what it is, but i'd be perfectly fine with it being wiped from the face of the earth.

Ironically enough, the fact that people pull out guns a lot in georgia, is counteracted by the fact that it's super easy to get a concealed weapons permit down there.. not sure if that's good or bad.

stats show gun crime up when concealed weapons are allowed in a state. Like way up.
