damn, that's crazy. maybe the fact that it is in japan kept the price down? i got a this for what to me seems like a hell of a deal... high quality tubing and a bit better worksmanship on the details than i've seen for most bridgestones, all at $580 shipped to the US.

well, let's see... taking out the prices of the components, looks like you paid somewhere around $600 just for the frame :eek::eek:

Transfixed06 08-11-07 03:07 AM

at that size, condition, paint job, craftsmenship....trust me, I'm TOTALLY fine with paying that amount. don't be jealous :)

andre nickatina 08-11-07 10:10 AM

i think you got the wrong impression from my post. $600 for a 60cm Makino is an insanely good deal. Much better than anything you'll see Stratton charging for of that size, no matter what the builder (think quad digit prices with none of the extras).

im an idiot. i did misinterpret your post, my bad. yea, my initial thought when i saw that Makino and the 60cm size was "i REALLY want it, but i'll probably be spending a silly amount of money for it" in fact, my high bid was 1500. quite glad it turned out the way it did. im still in disbelief, though. just two weeks ago i saw a Gan Well at that same size, frame only, go for 1300-ish. strange.

marqueemoon 08-11-07 05:41 PM

Good luck with that.

seaneee 08-11-07 06:51 PM

^ but it has no 'petals', doesn't that automatically double the value?

EMT 08-12-07 09:01 PM

****ers at yahoo auctions japan seem to have changed their policy---if you want to bid on anything over $50 or so, you have to register as a premium user at monthly fee of $3, *******s (yeah I'm cheap)

marqueemoon 08-12-07 10:42 PM

a much better deal

gargiulo.mike 08-12-07 10:43 PM

???h**********????g???d???f??s?r?yt???g
d'oh!

yeah, the same thing pissed me off yesterday trying to bid on a cheap Levant with the 70s-looking decals and some cranks. Damn.

I even tried to register but they rejected my two foreign issued credit cards. I sent an indignant email to the help desk and tehy wrote back saying you can do automatic furikomi too.

The 300 yen a month is waived till 2008 tho.......still sucks, but hey.

I have Japanese contacts, and have been thinking about importing frames.
