Where can I find a good deal on a silver Miche post? $20-$30 would be great?

That's what I was afraid of, thanks...

Yeah, 99 cents looks like a fair price for that.

thegreatwent 04-17-07 03:56 PM

wait a second...you had me second guessing that...
i'm looking for a track frame 49-50cm with a 52-53cm top tube.
track frames have horizontal dropouts...

morbot 04-17-07 04:38 PM

ignore goldener, he is just being a ******, technically they are called "track ends" not "dropouts" because dropouts imply forward-facing, so these are horizontal dropouts:

Umm... Ok.

Please somebody here buy this bike so I can see better pictures of it.

Oh, and if you don't want the fenders I definitely do.

morbot 04-17-07 06:55 PM

has anyone ever bought (or heard of someone buying) from the "used bike list" at http://www.bike123.com ?

they have a ton of bikes, though no prices listed, and not all are for sale

Kellan 04-17-07 07:06 PM

He's in the area, and the few times I've inquired, I thought his prices seemed a little high on stuff that I didn't think was in that high a demand. He's very quick with a response, though, and seems pretty nice.

He does have some beautiful stuff, and his stores are pretty cool.

I think ryand, maybe, (someone from the pirates at least) got a Maroni? from him. I remember the thread.

Edit: I just looked back through old emails, and the prices certainly weren't horrible, just seemed high for what I could afford and was hoping for.

that's my LBS! at least, when i'm home.
its a great store for everything- fixed, recumbent, tandem, road. i don;t know about their online stuff but the store is 100 percent rock solid awesome.
edit: found this: http://www.bike123.com/usedfaq.htm
it's kind of the way the whole shop runs: you get your tire from the pile in the back and he tells you how much it'll cost.

Kellan 04-17-07 07:25 PM

Here, I think. I had been looking at it too and was jealous when he got it.

sorry if this has been posted already. i glanced over the last few pages and didn't see it posted. i saw this thing at a local bike shop. it looks pretty sweet.

i visited his shop once years ago.. like you, the price ranges we talked about via email seemed reasonable to me (though on the high side) when compared with ebay and other established sellers..

after making a long trip down and talking with him i browsed through the pile he dug up for me and asked about specific prices on the items i was interested in..
the prices he quoted me in person were all above the top range he quoted via email !!

i told him the only thing i could afford was a pair of used campy crank dustcaps ($20) and he wouldn't sell them to me.. he was pissed because i didn't want to buy anything else at his inflated prices.
it wasn't a case of me trying to lowball him.. these were not nos, rare, or perfect parts.. they were all used, and some quite worn.. that's ok with me, but i expect to not have to pay top dollar for such parts, especially when we talked about price ranges beforehand..

i haven't tried to deal with him since, which is really too bad since his shop looks great and is filled with tons of nice stuff...
