Why do I want that frame so BAD!?!?! Man. Too bad it's 130£ to ship to the US.

Anyone in the UK wanna ship for what it should really cost? i.e. $60? I'd owe you more than a couple pints. :D

Sugino 75 - w/ aero spider and carbon disk chainring
NOS, 170mm

This is a pretty rare one, right?

You should hit up the seller. I found a lot of sellers jack up the shipping price 'cause they get scared and don't want to be out. That is something like $250 US? No way. If you can ship a bike from australia for $60, you can't tell me it costs 4x that to get it from the UK. Maybe he's sending it in a gold lined crate with white glove delivery.

My bike from Chicago to Houston via UPS ground cost $56, actual shipping charge. I can't imagine a bike coming from another country would be near the same rate.

I've found UPS to be routinely more expensive than FedEx, at least in bike shipping. The last time I shipped a frame, I took it to the FedEx store with a big box, which they cut down and filled with peanuts for free!

donkekus 12-18-06 12:12 PM

Weird, I've shipped bikes from here (S.F.) to Germany for not more than $80. Guess it's all in the way you package it, and I guess being a weight weenie helped the final shipping costs... ;)

Granted, now that I think back it was just the frame, fork and a few things, no wheels. But it was $60, and I know a couple of other people who have done the same thing for that amount. Granted it takes three weeks. Also, the US dollar is pretty strong against the Australian dollar.

UPS "stores" are privately owned and they determine how much they jack up the price of shipping. I went to a UPS store and they quoted me $40 to ship a frame. I went to an actual UPS customer service center, a little tiny shop attached to a gigantic UPS warehouse, and they charged me the actual rate which was $19.

This guy sells these old english hubs NOS. I got one and it was in amazing condition. Little on the heavy side, but cool for vintage lightweights:

Most UK sellers list similar used ones for way more than this one.

seaneee 12-18-06 03:46 PM

These are rad too for SS. Suzue BMX, just need to change the rear spacing, and by the looks of the spacer, shouldn't be hard.

How does the frame look do you guys? still in working order or can anyone see any dents/bends in it?

trons 12-19-06 01:38 PM

looks fine.

br995 12-19-06 01:40 PM

They state the auction is for the "frame, wheel, and handlebars." They don't seem bike savvy, so it probably includes everything, but I'd suggest asking them whether the crankset, BB, headset, and brake come with it.

Edit: Though, based on their feedback and the "Low Prices Come First, Customer Service Comes Second" banner on their page, I doubt you will get a response.

Sub 90% feedback is a red flag to me. Also, given the bikes scraped up condition and lack of a front wheel I would suspect a crash. I don't know what they mean by NR, but I doubt it means "never ridden".

Shiznaz 12-19-06 02:01 PM

NR means 'No Reserve' ie. no minimum price the bike will sell for.

and yes, given they have 177,869 feebacks, having 10.2% negative means that 18,142 people were unhappy with them. Thats CRAZY!

Ah, eBay speak. Thanks. I hadn't bothered to do the math, but 18,142 dissatisfied customers is nuts.

It looks really rough to me. That is a 2006 Pista, couldn't have been on the street for more than 8 months and it looks like that? I'd pass. The previous owner didn't take care of the bike at all, that could spell big problems for the next owner.

Really rough? Looks like it was actually ridden and locked up to me.

They're just paint chips..no biggie..just cosmetic.

marqueemoon 12-19-06 04:47 PM

The missing front wheel, post and saddle = kinda weird. Stolen? Crashed? There doesn't appear to be any damage on the downtube like it took a header, but the seller's feedback indicates it would not be worth the risk.

that paramount is amazing.
