Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Attn: Moderators; Let's Move The Regional Threads

How about moving the regional rides/random chit-chat threads to the regional forums?

1.It's getting crowded in here.

2.Joe created regionals for a reason.

3.SS/FG primadonna's should not be so lazy.

4.Double standards for moving threads based on relevance is bad policy.

5.I would start a "Land of Serendip Riders Unite!" thread, but Serendip is a fictional place.

6.Even the Australians had to yield eventually. They got over it.

7.Exclusionary, divisive threads that are 10,000 pages long have no business here.

8.Pie is more than just a long number. But you never learned that if you avoided a thread with a place-title of a city you don't live in.

9. The forum is in need of a cleaning. (good job[165], but you can only spray so much Lysol on the dog-poo.)

10. How many members live in Toronto & DC? Every time I see a new post, one of those two places is at the top of the new post list. Now Long Island has joined the fun. Yay for seccesion. Not.

No, there is a place for that too. To be fair, a crowded first page is just one of many solid reasons.

Yeah, there's a difference between a "hey, who else here is from X city?" meet-'n'-greet type of function, and a chatroom for a bunch of people who know each other sharing inside jokes.

i am not sure if anyone remembers the track forum being imbedded within this one (a sub-forum, if you will). I am going to look into something like this for all the remaining regional threads. I cannot guarantee anything, but it is worth a shot.

stay tuned.

sweet - don't forget the chalet you promised. An A-frame is also acceptable.

i for one miss all those that have moved on to creating their own each major city has a fixed forum...

i've never understood why if you don't like a thread just don't click it open or post in it and move on, and if its on the next page or 5 more down the road i just don't see what the big to do is...

There should be a "SSFG Complaints" forum because posts like this just fill up the main one.

At first, that sounds like a good idea. But since they'd be ignored, it would be a waste of space.

The non-bogans and ex-pooftahs eventually came back. Strewth, you'd think it was the beginning of the Protestestant Church, or something.

Jock, Climbo, and GKW (PShaw) haven't come back. Those are 3 of the guys I rode with in Oz. Kottr still visits, but not as much. And the site lost a lot of traffic when they left.

I think threads like this should be avoided by using the PM feature. Seriously. There are already three or four of them floating around. Threads like this are just a distraction from the more meaningful threads like "Which stem looks the best" or "Which shorts are the coolest"

...I'm just sayin'

i agree that the regional-heavy threads clog things up a bit, but the way you describe them here sure sounds like most all threads in ss/fg.
