Any bike shop that uses J&B Importers can order you one. J&B is the main rival to QBP, is cheaper, and tends to be the main distro for lower-end, less carbon-oriented bike shops. Call any shop and ask. I bet bikeworks uses J&B more than QBP.

Sun and Cayne are J&B house brands, the same way that Surly is the QBP house brand.

Bikes: Cannondale Synapse Carbon, Cayne Uno

just got one

Picked it up at Bicycle Station. They closed at 7PM but stayed until 8:30 putting it together for me (I got the first 56 available that day), upgraded the seat, wheels, and added a chain on the saddle for free. Even gave me another discount, $400 in hand. Incredibly nice guys, and I will be buying all of my gear from them from now on as I normally hate going to the local LBS. Answered all of my questions without the usual NYC superiority complex of fixie idiots.

Tight geometry, steel is a little harsh (but then again I've been riding a Synapse Carbon for the last year, the most comfortable ride ever) but the thing can move. I was very impressed with the performance of such a cheap bike, and it seems invincible. Not too heavy for a chromo frame, I haven't weighed it but it feels lighter than the pista.

I took my roommate to buy one at Bike Station and it was $400. He put on straight bars and the appropriate brake levers, put on an adjustable stem (she is riding it with the freewheel), added toe clips, and a fender. $400 even. I assume most of you know that bike shops in this city don't charge tax on purchases or labor if you pay in cash.

But it's something shops are less inclined to do if the info is broadcast to every tom, dick, jane, and IRS auditor on the street.
