cross lever clamp size

i have the nashbar aero bar with a 26.0 clamp size and the nashbar cross levers. the clamp on the levers will not fit around the fatter part (where the stem clamps onto the handlebar). are there any cross levers that will? i know a lot of you guys must have some extras from only running one brake. let me know if you have one to sell.

Nope. Unless you shim a 31.8 lever. And that's a lot of shim.

Its not that bad actually. Salsa levers only come in 31.8 but they always come with 26.0 shims for regular diameter bars.

when it says that these levers can fit size 26.0 bars, does that mean that the diameter of the clamp is is 26.0, or they will fit on size 26.0 bars?

a 26.0 bar will always be 26.0 in the middle of the bar when the stem clamps down. Everything else from that point can vary. Some handlebars have narrow outside diameters (less than 26.0) but bulge out alot at the stem (to 26.0). In fact almost all drop bars bulge at the stem, otherwise it becomes impossible to mount the bars unless your stem has a removable faceplate.

In response to your question, the levers are designed for 26.0 bars, not a 26.0 ultimate diameter (although it would probably fit anyways). I think the reason most cross levers have hinges is to make up for this variation between bar diameters more than for convenience of mounting.

I wish this was the case for the nashbar cross levers. maybe i'll try some light filing to see if the lever fits then. thanks for your reply.

oh darn. I thought the nashbar levers were hinged. I was real close to buying them too, having already turned down a non-hinged pair for 15 dollars.

Past filing I can't really offer any suggestions short of returning them. sorry

I'm pretty sure they are hinged, but you still can't really spread it.
