AFAIK you're exposed to stronger waves if you use your own cell phone in a place where the signal is weak. Also keeping it in your pocket all the time is not supposed to be a good idea if you're afraid of radio waves. Too close to the family jewels ya know.

I doubt you're in any danger, but your reception will be incredible.

Chances are yes, you probably have till about, hmmm, tomorrow morning, I would'nt sweat it, just go out and ride!

Fer real though, I bet all those stories are just urban myths, nobody knows for sure so I would'nt spin my wheels (no pun intended) over it.

those antennas are usually bolted down pretty well. Usually reinforced with guy-wires also. I doubt they'll fall on you while you sleep.

yes...I would be worried...
I know someone who had a brain operation and during recovery, they weren't allowed to use a cellphone without an earpiece (so as to keep the phone away from the head)...

I would do some serious research if I were you...we're all exposed to some serious shiet, but you will prob now get more than your fair share of zapping

The thing is, you can't do serious research. The information is not out there. AFAIK the scientific world is divided on the issue and of course phone compeanies don't really want research done. Also, it'd probably take long-term (30 year+) research on a huge sample to get any meaningful data.
Currently, you can look up different reports that say one of 3 things. 1)No need to worry, it's as safe as it gets. 2)There is serious cause for concern. Some stats show that eg. cancer rates have shot up around antennae etc. But we don't have solid data. 3) It will kill you before Christmas.

Achewood rules.

I wouldn't worry about it. If there's a real problem it's already too late. RF waves are already everywhere you can get a signal anyway.
LoFarkas is right about the power being highest when the signal is weakest, and right when the phone rings.

that's real creepy...i'd be worried, but i worry about stuff like that. i know that you are definitely supposed to use an earpiece instead of holding the phone there though. my friend called her cell phone company to ask about it and they told her straightforwardly that she wants to have the phone as far from her head as possible.

and my aunt and uncle moved the refrigerator in their garage to a new spot once, right behind the wall from where my cousin slept, and all of a sudden he had trouble falling/staying asleep at night. they moved the refrigerator away and he was fine.

so yeah, that sucks. i'd move your bed to the other side of the room, and if all else fails,

Oh the adventures of NYC rental properties; you should bring this up to your landlord and attempt to get a rental rebate!

The FCC has already tested the antennas and deemed them safe. Regardless of the truth(which is still unknown), there's not much you can do. If you get a baseline level of the RF signals already present (which in itself will be mindblowing), you might be able to do a compairson once the new antennae come online, and in the end it might be almost no difference.

Wires ftw... At least you can't lose your headset/phone. Well, you can lose them together but that's really pushing it.
And it wouldn't make much sense to avoid getting radiowaves in your head by replacing them with more radiowaves.

You live and breathe in NYC and you're worried about radiowaves?

Besides, if you're really close, you're probably in the signal shadow.

Mr. Joker brings up a good point. Since they usually mount the antennas on the side of the building angled downwards and stick the electronics somewhere safe, you may be out of the line of fire so to speak. Check to see where the antennas are pointing. Hopefully they're not directed at your room.

No worries then. I'd still try to get the landlord to cut the rent just for the hell of it.
