This was posted in the roadie forum but I thought it would make sense over here as well.

Now kids remember if you get hit and your not on a bike lane it is your own falt!
True we take a risk by cyling with cars but does that mean if you are parked on the side of a road in a mini or just driving along and a large truck runs you over it is your falt as minis should not share the road with a 30 tone truck. I mean a sub one tone car vs a thirty tone truck. Who's going to win? Get off the road minis we all need 30 tone trucks to be safe!

Someone photoshop him holding his gun the wrong way and shooting himself in the face. I like how he tried to reconcile his irrationality by citing Amsterdam and European traffic patterns as if all of those advocacy groups working for safer streets/more awareness of cyclists here in Amurrica shouldn't even try to change our built environment. Damn seccessionists..

so, i'd like to suggest that nobody comment on this ******bag's idiot post. he's being a dickhead because he thinks it's cute to be a dickhead, and the reason that ******bags think it's cute to be a dickhead is because they'll know that it will draw people to their no-value blog, commenting angrily, and he'll just drop a caustic retort that won't get anybody anywhere. this asshat is of no consequence, leave it alone.

I completely agree with everyone that this guy is a total joke. And QP, yep, you are right, posting or emailing him will only fuel his idiocy. But, I would like to caution people from writing/thinking that everyone from the South is an inbred jerkoff that we should instantly hate. I am not being an apologist for this guy and I am a born-and-raised northerner so hold my own prejudices against other parts of the country, but all of us cyclists thinking everyone from South Carolina is a gun-pointing, cyclist-hating, high top is just the same type of stereotype we hate - as in, people thinking anyone older than twelve riding a bicycle is a fool. It just makes things worse. I am sure there are people on this forum from SC who are good folks (I at least know there are people from Durham, NC on here who are good folks) so beware of blanketing everyone from some place as being one specific way.
With that said, I can't wait to see his gun shooting him in the face.

Blaming the victim means that one gets to say, "See, he deserved it, as long as I can avoid being an idiot nothing bad will happen to me."
It's so comforting.

I once saw a car with both sun visors converted to tv screens. The driver had pr0n playing while he was driving down the street. While trying to be sure, I nearly crashed into him.

haha I wanna know how much time this guy just wasted writing that stuff. He gets smart points for using the words "Utopian" and "infrastructure". I also thought his section making fun of people wearing spandex was particularly strong.
The key is obviously to commit suicide, because in everything we do we automatically assume responsibility for the actions of everyone else. If you're dead there are no risks so you're free to not be harmed.
Roads have always been designed for cars, and indeed, long ago, cavemen used to deal with the dangers of crossing divided highways to follow the wooly mammoth herds. Every year a few of the cavemen would get smashed by flocks of migrating SUVs, but such is the circle of life. Cars have been migrating this way for countless millenia, and who are we to stop them for our own selfish reasons?
PS. I hate blogs where the owner has to preapprove user comments before publication. How thin skinned can you be? proves he won't stand behind his comments.
FYI, I posted to his messageboard, but I did so in the stereotypically inflamitory cager fashion, saying how bikes don';t belong on the road, get in my way, I'm going to run them over. We will see if he publishes my comment, but not pro bike comments. Then we will know exactly how much of a turn this guy really is.

I love how his previous post bemoans the loss of courtesy and politeness, yet he can't at all make the connection between courtesy and different types of road-users coexisting.

I'm waiting to see if he clears my comment for publication:
For my money the real idiot was the guy who got on that bike and decided to ride it in traffic. When you put yourself in that situation, and you're an adult who understands the potential consequences, you're an idiot.
By that logic, my girlfriend is responsible for all the permanently disabling injuries she sustained when her car was struck by a drunk driver. After all, it was her decision to put herself in that situation (driving on any public street could put you in the path of a drunk behind the wheel.)
As a 16 year veteran bike commuter, I'm aghast that anyone would make justifications for Stark's actions. She didn't lose sight of the road due to fog or heavy rain; she drifted off the roadway because she made the decision to ignore the task of driving.
Had Mr. Wilhelm been weaving in/out of traffic, or riding without lights/reflectors at night (the accident occurred on a clear day) then, maybe, I could understand faulting him. He was doing nothing wrong and was killed by the deliberate negligence of Ms. Stark.
Tell me, how is this justified?

I thought this was a satire until I read "I'm not a fan of cars"
If you read his "about me" thing, you'll see he describes himself as "subversive".
Real subversive, when you advocate more cars to solve the problems because things are 'miles' away. He's got some good ideas, like bike paths and mass transit. Too bad he immediately shoots them down as "too expensive".
Wotta ******. This reminds me of the ignorant SF Guardian article a couple of weeks back about the Portland thing.
....and miles? That's like, a few thousand feet, at least!
