There was recently an article posted around here about the MIT TT team. Supposedly they're dominating because they're not complete idiots and they're taken the above into consideration.

They measured the aerodynamic drag of things like gloves, helmets, and shoe covers. I'm guessing if you can have a good position on a prefab bike, it'll be as good as a custom. I'd like to believe that a custom bike will help me get a better position, but I'm just not sure about that.

But you know, they're all hot in different ways.

However, I keep my BB's set a a MINIMUM level of 11.25 I even raise it if they are on a shorter, steeper track. Reason? Sometimes you slow down in a race and dont want to dig a pedal into the banking. Better safe than scabbed! I always say...

Maybe the folks at Forest city enforce the 17mph rule and no one rides on the track unless they are going that speed, which would make it safe. Again, a 10.5 BB scares the crap out of me...

Ya, FCV is 50* so I don't know how much I like the sounds of a low bb ... and 30kph (~17mph) is screamed at anyone who's not moving fast enough. The only time I've seen someone doing less than 30kph on that track is their first lesson on it getting up to speed for the first turn (and getting screamed at to speed up) or on the apron coming off the track.

yo, will smith called... the producers of i, robot want their bike back.

Are you kidding me?! That would is the only thing more stealth than an all-black bike. You'd be like those harpists in Kung-Fu hustle, all using the intangible to fight and kill.

For Pursuit and T.T.ing B.B. height is less important. You want to stay on the low side of the track and pedal strike is less likely. My friend Jess rides an old Cervelo P3 Alu at Forest City and does very well on it. Well enough she went to Track Nationals on the same bike (with 170 IRO cranks no less) and won the gold in the 3000m. She did however spend a ton of time training instead of stressing about her bike. I can't wait to see how she does on a "real" track bike.

I have nothing to say other than I like that they put a headbadge on the seat tube.

Yup. There's something to be said for having your own wind tunnel.

Since you are Donald Trump, do those forks have 28mm rake? I mean, Donald Walker has a nice sound.

I *heart* Bianchi, but I just can't get psyched about this frame. Unfortunately, Bianchi's popularity has fallen off lately, assumingly due to quality v. price. *nothing* they have out right now gets me excited.

I'll hang onto my 2002 giro road frame, I suppose.

The Filmore is nice, the components...not so much. But for $700.00...

Good to see you around Emily! How was your track season? Cat up?

DC_Emily 12-07-06 05:48 PM

Hey! No track yet, just road. There's no velodrome near DC, so I take what I can get.
Still hanging with the Cat4's, but I had some good finishes. Two 4th place and a prieme. Law school cut the season short.

The D2 Pista Alu ain't bad looking. But I understand you can only get it here from a euro or UK shop.

Isn't the Filmore a Lemond?

I'm thinking of the Fremont, which is a Concept frame drilled for brakes.
