So, how much different are these TT bikes that also double for track use? Do they make up for the difference in rear spacing by putting on (replacable?) dropouts spaced 10mm closer than the TT version or are the chain/seatstays actually spaced for the track? Is all the cable routing still present?

6.8 cm of bb drop seems to drop a bit low for a track bike.

afaik it's a TT bike posted in the wrong section of bianchi's website. there is no indication that it's dual-use

That bike is swet as hell, though the picture shown has vertical dropouts. I don't know whether they have two different bikes for TT and track and just were too lazy to get a picture of the track specific bike or if its just a mistake being listed as track, but the one shown is definitely not a track bike.

it looks to me like the whole rear dropout is replacable so that you could in theory switch back and forth

what about the look 496 tt frame & their 496 athena track frame? very similar.

or the cervelo p3c or pinarello montello fp8. also the bmc pro/track machine, the colnago c50, and the ridley damocles to a lesser degree.

Looks like this guy's bike. At least it has some kind of shape...The one I saw in person was stunning, Campy Bora Deep-V's with what looked like 10 spokes...it was very cool.

Talked to my Bianchi dealer...it's definitely a track pursuit frameset. A BT killer.

I don't see why you would get this frame over a cervelo p3c, or even sooner a BT or Corima. At least CSC has been dominating in the TT's on the p3c, and track racers the world over have been dominating on the latter two frames.

This seems like the BMC frame, to me, inasmuch as they didn't really put much design effort into the track version. "HAY LET'S PUT SOME BIG TYEWBS ON THERE AND MAKE IT LOOK AERO LIKE WHOA."

i was thinking the same thing.

however, as far as the custom steel vs stock carbon goes for me, i'm still indecisiven (not that it really matters because i don't have $3k to spend on a frameset). i read a biketechreview article a couple months back that basically broke down the resistances a rider faces on a zero net elevation course. it was something like 60% rider drag, 8% wheel drag, 8% frame drag, 12% tire rolling resistance and then down from there. what i wonder is if a custom frame would have a distinct advantage into getting the rider into an ideal aerodynamic position, to the extent that it offsets it's own aerodynamic inferiority to a prefab carbon.

i dunno, i just saw this while i was looking around for cheap bianchi track framesets, and i was totally surprised by it...really surprised. i actually said "holy ****in' ****" when i saw it. that's all.

I dont mean to dispute...but some people from the forest city velodrome emailed me and said that they recommended bikes to have a 10.5inch bb height (from ground to centre of bb) for use at their track.

10.5inch bb height is a 70cm bb drop... obviously, no track bike has so much bb drop! i'm wondering why they would recommend such a height?? and maybe the bianchi's have this height because of it's intended track discipline? it's not unusual for pursuit bikes to have more bb drops. if i'm not mistaken, even the cervelo p3c track bike has a lot of bb drop (something in the line of 65mm?)

Um, you are kidding right? Its actually aroudn 26cm-ish... Is that what you meant or am I getting the wrong end of the pineapple?
