Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? threaded stem with positive rise?

anyone know where to get one? my girlfriend wants to try something out with her bike, but i can't find one of these anywhere, and don't recall ever seeing one. alternatively, has anyone tried this:
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...20Road%20Stems
it seems like a reasonable solution...

They exist and you should be able to find a cheap used one pretty easily. You also might be able to get a super cheap adjustable(but I think most of them are 1 1/8")

Old steel 1-inch mtb stems will work very well with Ritchey roadbars. The stems are 25.4 and the bars 25.8, no trouble at all getting it together.

check out citybikes on 20th and ankeny, the recyclery on 7th and madison (both shops are in SE)...i mean, if you can find a stem that works at one of those shops for less money and you don't have to wait for shipping and you're supporting yoiur lbs, what harm is there?

might not be fancy, like the ttt shown, but you never know what parts you'll find at those shops, it's always a surprise what they have there. sometimes it's "good enough", sometimes it's "holy **** this is my holy grail".

Salsa SUL stem.

https://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...4&category=887

the -15 degree ones are standard "7" shaped stems with none to little rise depending on your HT angle, the 0 degree ones and +15 degree ones have rise.

^ i agree, salsa has made them for a while, you can definately find old ones too (check ebay)

i have also used an adapter like that, not nashbar, mine might have been profile design... anyway, it worked just fine, looks a little funny if it's not sunk all the way down to the headset though, but never had any trouble with it.
