Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

i ask because it seems that there would be a bit of movement/separation at the twist as the wheels roll
1) Mine creaked on my first ride, but then they settled and make no noise now.
2) The local wheel guru told me he's had the same pair of twisted spokes on his MTB frame for over two years with no problems.

I guess if you were really worried about them moving you could solder them together like they used to do.

strength issues

strength aren't any that i've ever had, and i've ridden this setup (fHub = LX, rhub = paul word, both on rhynolites) for quite awhile, in a few different places. My biggest eff-up was using spline-drive nips and not buying/stealing/etc. the spline drive nip-wrench from the last shop i worked at:

other spec's = khs solo-one softtail, sx-r fork, suntour XC-pro seatpost, wtb seat, raceface risers, oury's, magura hs33's, raceface SS cranks.

p.s. sorry about the badtacular photo quality.

Duh. No one said there are any benefits other than aesthetics to the exotic pattern. It still stands that a high spoke count and spokes that are normal to the hub center will be the strongest. Low spoke counts will be slightly lighter, and aero-spokes will give a slight aerodynamic advantage. But then again, most of us are in this forum, at least partly, for aesthetic reasons.

I guess I failed at nice.
Nope, totally nice. Sorry to smear the aesthetic ejaculate.

Is that the original fork? Something about the thin fork with the thick Al tubes looks kinda wrong. And kinda right in a perverse way.

I think so. The '93 Cannondale came with a steel fork I believe.

This is me assuming though. So i'm probably wrong.

Everything about his bike makes me feel good.

i don't think so. those Cannondales came with round-tube Tange(?) track forks painted to match the frame, not chromed oval-tube ones.

I think the gold Deep-V wheels might actually be more inflammatory

You are right. Sorry about that. Here is an original fork:

The one I posted previous has an Benotto fork.

those cannondales are just so unbelievably hot. i cannot wait until one appears in my size.

and, to stay on topic, I would totally build a pair of 3 leading 3 trailing wheels for it.
