2) The local wheel guru told me he's had the same pair of twisted spokes on his MTB frame for over two years with no problems.
I guess if you were really worried about them moving you could solder them together like they used to do.

strength issues
strength aren't any that i've ever had, and i've ridden this setup (fHub = LX, rhub = paul word, both on rhynolites) for quite awhile, in a few different places. My biggest eff-up was using spline-drive nips and not buying/stealing/etc. the spline drive nip-wrench from the last shop i worked at:

other spec's = khs solo-one softtail, sx-r fork, suntour XC-pro seatpost, wtb seat, raceface risers, oury's, magura hs33's, raceface SS cranks.
p.s. sorry about the badtacular photo quality.

Duh. No one said there are any benefits other than aesthetics to the exotic pattern. It still stands that a high spoke count and spokes that are normal to the hub center will be the strongest. Low spoke counts will be slightly lighter, and aero-spokes will give a slight aerodynamic advantage. But then again, most of us are in this forum, at least partly, for aesthetic reasons.
I guess I failed at nice.

I think the gold Deep-V wheels might actually be more inflammatory
