Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Why don't you summon all the love and patience you never thought you have, and little by little, teach your girlfirend to ride a bike. It won't be easy, from your account, but when (not IF!) you succeed, she'll be grateful till the end of the world. And very, very happy. And healthy (all these will translate very positively to your situation).

You'll gain the most faithful, most fun person to ride with.

Even people very uncoordinated can learn to ride a bike, I guarantee you that. If you want to know how I can be so sure, feel free to pm me.

totally agreed. my wife used to feel really left out when i first started riding. i got her a bike, showed her the ropes, and now she asks me every day when we're going for a ride...

i just look at the camera and smile...

The NYE Alleykitten? Some of us DC'ers are heading there too - guess you're totally popular now.
