Before his prison days. I think he is coming up for parole next year or something.

I can't remember my first....1st generation Vision Gator, I think.[edit] ^^^^Ha, that's funny! Mine was green, but I ran through about three of them, and a Psycho Stick (And many others...damn I ran through a lot of decks!)

One of my favorites too....But my all time favorite has to be my Powell longboard (if you factor in fun and good times, not tricks).

I still rock the Powell longboard. I used to actually commute to work on this thing, in traffic. Brakeless.:D

soyboy 12-21-06 02:32 PM

my first was a creature deck, silver with a ratfink-like coffin mobile on the bottle, my favorite was a dregs longboard, flat and like 5 feet long thing rolled for days. close second was the standard element deck, just narrow enough still ride that one

TRaffic Jammer 12-21-06 02:37 PM

First deck (1977)... Yellow Banana ..rode until the bearings beat me down the hill one day.
Second deck ... Blue Plexiglass from Sears...added marine deck tape and RoadMaster6's later.
Nice wood long board with oak strips ..... was a good barefoot hill board...baseplates an inch thick DSC?
First Pro Setup .... brand new Powell ripper from new company Powell and Peralta.
Several Powell models follow Cab, Pers......BONITE...WTF?

Fav deck was Tony Magnusson with Hell Concave ... my vert deck.

AND I STILL have my Fred Smith Loud One III Tee Shirt. Saw him snort the chain.

Still have the Mag, and the a nicely preserved Blender ala his Picasso phase.

Anyone remember when Gator killed that girl? Saw him on Hard Copy?

In some ways maybe, but Powell and Airwalk laid the groundwork. Slick marketing was around long before the skater image was pushed to the general (non-skating) public, but sometime during this period skaters stopped being hassled by the cool kids and became the cool kids.

TRaffic Jammer 12-21-06 02:50 PM

He's out now and on the QuickSilver tip..... that was bad, but he's skating again.
But yea the Gator thing, made me grow up a little I think back then.

Gonzo was recently giver a transworld lifetime something or other .....still skating he is... looking more like Tom Waits though

i think he was referring more to the trendiness of the company. i actually think alien workshop decks feel pretty nice. lotsa pop.

I guess I should have clarified. Everyone made fun of people with aliens.

I was never super into them, but I have to say, when Don Pendelton was rocking the art direction, some of the graphics were really nice. IMO, he's being waisted at element.

Man a few years ago, my friend hit up this thrift store and got me an original, nearly new version of that jacket. I still bust it out for special occastions. It made me bummed that I got rid of my rat bones one.

lvleph 12-21-06 03:06 PM

Skate TV shows on Nickalodean sometimes. lol

As soon as the masses are offered easy entry into what was an exclusive subculture there's a backlash. Happens all the time.

Hmm, my very first deck was a Kamikaze from cotco or somethin'.
Hmm, ive had (in no order) psycho stick, a rob roskopp, tony hawk, lance mountain, tommy guerrero, mark gonzalez, mini cab, Natas Kapas, and some others I cant recall.

I think my favorites were the TG and MG decks.

pinkrobe 12-21-06 05:21 PM

First deck - G&S Billy Ruff "Joker/Puppetmaster" [?] with Tracker trucks and Kryptonics wheels. I think I still have it...
It's also my last deck. I sucked so bad at skating, I rode my bike instead.

loaf 12-21-06 05:30 PM

aww damn, now I'm going to dust off the old deck and go kill the streets!

shark! 12-21-06 05:32 PM

first deck: maple matchhead (CANT FIND A PICTURE ANYWHERE??? ANY HELP??)

this was also my favorite deck. i believe i rode it until there was about an inch or 2 missing from the tail and nose.
