Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

It was the one armed man!

So... It looks like I'm going to be in a sling for 3 months.

Anyone have any good ideas for staying in shape?

Grab a flutterboard and hit the pool. You're Mom will be the only one who thinks you're cool but it'll keep your legs in somewhat decent shape.

One armed cycling!...I've done it. Use a brake for sure and don't dance with traffic....stick to lonely roads and paths.

If not that...get a cheap pair of rollerblades.

I wish I could do that... My ADD won't let me do anything while I'm watching a movie 'cept eat and drink.

I'm in the same place. 6 more weeks off the rig. I'm looking for a trainer too, or i will use a guest pass for my friends with gym memberships.

I guess there is no way for it not to suck.

I'm getting a bone graft, so I can't really move it at all for 6 weeks and I won't be moving it on it's own until 3months. I can't fall off anything for 4-6 months or I'd be in some serious ****, so no one armed biking.

Just heard my surgery slot may have been revoked, so I might not get cut until after the new year...

That sucks, they just put my radius back together last week. The pain is almost gone, I'm into the discomfort phase now. I don't have to have a cast, but I have a gnarly brace which I can only remove to shower. I just hope that surgery was the last which it may not be.

Spin Class. they're actually more fun than you'd think. I did one for a winter when i couldn't commute due to time constraints. All the people looked at me funny in my cut-offs and old cinelli cycling cap under my helmet.
