it looks like one of those Alpha bikes that were on eBay last year.
It does look like one of those Alpha bikes. They were going for under $200 I think and weren't highly sought after.
if it is an alpha, do you know anything about them? are they decent bikes? he is asking for $375
the general consensus was that they were garbage :)
total crap. and heavy crap at that. $375 is about what they cost new and they are not worth that. you can get better for less.
damn! i kinda like it even though it is weird looking.
i think im more interested in owning a gold bike more than anything else. i guess ill stick to my pista. sigh. |
they also made a blue and a grey version

a crazy Dr. produces them in his underground philadelphia laboratory!!
yeah i found the website and the ebay store
frankinstienbikeworx.com im i guess what you'd consider a clyde (250lbs) and a lot of bikes feel kinda flimsy under me, including my pista. i think im gonna give it a try. i think the frame is a love it or hate it thing, and i think i love it. i think. hmm. oh, the dude came down from 375 to 250 shipped! |
good. that bike is not worth 375.
if you are heavy, you will taco those wheels. garbage.
that might not be a bad thing, i can then upgrade. the guy im buying it from doesnt knows even less then i do about bikes, but on the website it says they are 32 spoke, and high flange hubs built for the everyday bike messenger. so i was hoping then would hold up.
that bike makes me want to throw up. the guy at Frankenstein here always trys to get people to buy them because they are apparently the "highest quality bikes on the market". at least thats what he told me when he saw me on the street with my fuji track.
Wait, you like to buy things that will break so you can upgrade?
yeah i thought all that sxe sobriety/viriginity was supposed to give you a clearer sense of smart/dumb
there was a guy who posted on here a while back who knew the builder. his summation of these frames was something like: "i love this guy and like his creatvity, but this frame sucks'.
all and all, spend the little bit of extra money and get something that doesnt suck.

How is it that he doesnt know anything about a Bike he bought. Not even the name. Sounds like he stole the MFer to me. Either that or there is no 'guy' and YOU stole it. |
When I moved to Philly I went in that store (1999). He told me why what I had was crap and why his stuff was great. Dr. ******tastic to the rescue! I don't like shop owners who foist their opinions on me with such force. After experiences with all the other shops in Philly, I realize that guy AND his bikes are steamy piles of dog-coil.
thats how he do and thats what him and his stuff is

The stories about his crazy gun-toting and -waving tendencies are legendary. Rumor asserts that he employs thieves to bring him parts and to create potential buyers, though all evidence is purely anecdotal.
And the only people I know to be happy with a Mercury are the most casual riders ever. |
yeah I heard that rumor about his employees stealing things. as a matter of fact, I always saw this red single speed on 15th and like pine-ish, and I noticed it eventually its back wheel was stolen, then one day I had to suck it up and buy a tube from frankenstien because I didnt feel like walking to get a tube. and I saw that same bike in the shop with some new wheel on it. who knows. either way, I dont like that guy.
