Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I wonder how much would it cost to copper plate a seatpost, stem, bars, and cranks... Maybe hubs rims and spokes too, but probably not. I'm thinking the same finish they have on brooks saddle rails. It would develop a really nice patina over time, and would match smashingly with my cyclops with red to copper fade paintjob.

Can you copper plate alloy easily? I don't ride my cyclops enough to justify NOT doing this.

picture kind of showing fade on the cyclops

edit: B*tch! You know what I want! Hahahahaha! I wanna talk to Sampson! Fly me to the moon like that b*tch Alice Kramden! 'Cause it's hard being black and gifted! Sometimes I wanna throw it all down and get lifted!

Adam, people who customize cars and motorcycles can have the parts gold-plated for you, if you want that effect.

I got in touchw ith Tomity! I am going to get the following:
-Gold DuraAce Track Crank
-Gold 50t Sugino Zen Ring
-GOld MKS Pedals
-Gold MKS Toe Clips
-Gold Nitto Jaguar Post
-Gold 130 Steel Stem 58 degrees
-Gold B-123 Bars

Then elsewhere I'll buy:
-Kashimax 5 gold Saddle in White
-Kashimax Double Straps
-Kashimax Top Tube Protector
-DuraAce High Flange Hubs
-Deep V's

Do you guys know of anywhere in the USA I could send the hubs, headset, and rims to get anodized? Could I anodize the spoked too? Or should I do black? Probably black.
ON DuraAce Hubs, can the DuraAce logos be removed if I want to get them anodized, then reinstalled? That could be an issue. Is it just a sticker? or a removable cap? Are they sealed hubs? or no?

Look in your yellow pages under "plating" and make some calls. That, or ask around at your local RC car shop - those dudes are all about anodizing.

And no, the DA hubs are not sealed.

once a rainy season. its pretty easy, too. i rode some DA all through a rainy SF winter (a winter where we had more rain than seattle) and they were fine. then juvi bought them, and god knows what terrible things he did to em, and now they're on to a 3rd owner and still doing great.

Awesome! So that's ok! Now how about headsets, pedals and BB? The bike comes with a Hatta headset and BB...should I swap it for a DuraAce road one? as well as teh BB? And the pedals I want arent sealed either, i beleive...the MKS Royal Nuevos....or something like that.

yo....don't use 'sealed' anything...unless it's phil...won't be fly

oh...and you should lace your rims 4x leading/trailing 36h...only the freshest...
oh...and get the shiny phil wood cog and get a big size too like 19...so it blings more(trust!!...just have to wipe the grease off of it with a rag when you want it to shadingle)......so, if you do 52 or something up front, you can have a nice comfy 70+ gear inch ride

baaaaalin'

edit: I know I'm not the only one hyped about this ride...
you put Samson in my crosshairs...maybe it'll be my first luxury whip...now, where to cop? tomity? sashae? where r these japan frames at?
