Best candy for energy?

Does anyone have any recomendations? Doesn't have to be a bar.
Sour patch kids work pretty well and they keep your mouth from getting to dry.

Not necessarily a candy, but when I did roadie training, I
always carried a bottle of half Coke/water for energy.

Just thow a powerbar in you bag or pocket. Thats what its made for....to give you an energy/nutrition boost. Ever read the nutrition information on one of those things? Its like a big chocolate flavored vitamin.

I don't have any scientific data, but I always go for 3-Musketeers because its mostly nougat.
My theory is, nougat is very sweet and can be digested fast for energy.

I like Snickers bars - no idea if they are a good choice or not. Long rides is my excuse for eating more concentrated calories.

Pie, donuts, anything that doesn't move very fast, fruit smoothies, hamburgers, hotdogs, chicarrones, oranges from trees, guavas, fresh road side pineapple, sugar coated figs, icecream cones...

I am getting hungry!

The last time I road a double century, I stopped for a huge ice cream cone, several hotdogs, 20 piece chicken mcNugget, french fries, donuts, candy bars, and a BBQ sandwich. Eating tons of calorie rich food along the side of the road...thats what long rides are all about.

as mentioned, jelly belly makes "sport beans"

they are full of carbs, vitamins c and e, and electrolytes... pretty much a solid form of a power drink. i can't attest to their energy firsthand, but i can say they taste delicious

i've also had some sort of jello-y cube that is about 3/4" square... can't remember what it's called but they were pretty good, not quite as tasty as the jelly belly, but possibly more nutritious

For quick energy on the road I like to pull over & have a big long lunch at a good Tex-mex place. Margaritas are like candy with salt, right? I get mine sans salt, all that salt is bad 4 u.

there was a discussion of this in Dirt Rag many moons ago. I have heard both good and bad, but I stil like 'em. And if you decide to use them as a racing supplement - bring a post-race toothbrush!

My low bulk power food is usually a bunch of delicious dates. You have to get the really good ones, not the hard chewy ones with the plastic twig in the package. If you go to the middle east at all stock up on fresh dates, because its like street meat vs. filet mignon. As long as I have a supply of saudi or omani dates I will never eat candy again. I can't even describe how good the last batch I picked up was. Its like caramel chocolate that grows on trees. They are 70% sugar when partly dried so they will keep up your blood sugar. You can get some that are stuffed with an almond too for some protein. The bedouins live on dates, camel meat and milk and fish, and they have been around trekking through the desert forever, so as long as you have some fat and protein to go along with the dates you're laughing.

I bring along a bag of crunchy granola and a banana or two and I'm set for about 100km or so.

Candy seems kinda dumb on a ride but sometimes I will bring a twix bar. When I'm exercising I can't stomach something like a mars bar. I need some crunchy slightly salty cookie to offset it.
