this thread is the gift that keeps on giving.

Except Dutret actually contributes useable knowledge and not just insults

+1. We need more insightful posts rather than zero substance, ad hominem attacks.

Sigh. You just don't get it and instead add to the noise that you loathe. If you want to have intelligent conversations about other aspects of cycling then go into other sub-forums here and contribute with the knowledge you have. It seems like you just want to come to this sub-forum to hate on hipsters and art students. Why? Are they not worthy of your knowledge?

FWIW it seems to me there are plenty of threads here asking valid questions with people trying to learn about everything from frames, fit, wheels, hubs, BB, chasing threads, rust protection, riding in traffic, brake installation, fenders, tire size, saddles, etc. What do you consider intelligent bike conversation?

Hi,

This is my first post and I really don't care if I get banned. You are a ***** Pink.Terror. You are the problem with this world, I wish all people like you would jump off a bridge like all the other lemmings in the world.

Money does not = happiness nor does it make you better than anyone else...you don't know jack about life and if you did you would not have that attitude.

Ban away...thanks!

SO YEAH, MKS GR-9's! HUH?

kogkrusher 07-17-08 06:28 PM

If you feel that you need to run a zip tie you just need one through the middle... you can run two, one on each side, but one in the middle is all you need. All of the toe clamps I've seen have 3 holes where the clamp connects to the pedal... the two on the sides are for the screws to go through and the one in the middle is to stick a zip tie through so you can run double straps on gr-9's :)

I don't see the point. If you want to run doubles, get the proper pedals. Why cobble something together when the proper pedal is a couple bucks more?

bionnaki 07-17-08 07:59 PM

I think using zip ties is unnecessary when you could walk into any harddware store and purchase two pairs of bolts for 2 dollars. with that aside, what's so wrong with using longer bolts?

gr9s are comfortable pedals and I prefer them to others like sylvans. I also prefer double straps. Adding 4 longer steel bolts makes them work together and adding that 1/2" extra of bolt threading is not "cobbling" something together.

eXCeSS 07-17-08 08:44 PM

get the pake singles, the urethane ones, theyre better than the double straps ive used

GR-9s are comfy.

You don't need zips if you run long bolts.

There is no doubt that continuing to read the "mindless discussions" and posting poison in them definitely makes you smarter than those involved in the discussions, and is a more valid use of time.

Mark me down as another person who likes their Gr-9s with double straps.

I have used with them longer bolts, with generic one loop toe clips, two single straps and a home made double and they were good although the front strap tended to slid down my foot a lot. However, in that position the front strap actually held my foot better.

Now I run them with the longer bolts and the soma quad gate clips with dimension double straps and they work really well for me.

For reference I have ridden spds for years and road powergrips for about 4 months. The gr9s with double straps are probably on par with my experience with powergrips. Both are obviously less efficient that clipless but I got tired of having to wear my clipless shoes.
