Bump for amusement.

double straps work great when you replace the bolts. the proper size is a 20mm long 5mm bolt!

That's why I'm doing, but I haven't found the right sized screws! Thanks!

home depot has the proper bolts and nuts - the nuts come in the little bag, I believe. just bring your stock gr9 bolts and match the pitch of the threading - pretty easy to do. just be sure to get the correct length. the 1" or 25.4 mm will be too long and will not fit.

If I remember correctly, the cost is about .89 cents per bag or something close to that.

regarding the threading, my bag says "5mm-8x20mm" so it must be '8.'

gr9s are ok but sylvans got a better grip

adriano 01-07-09 01:04 AM

in my other gr9 mod of the week, getting the caps off and nickels on isnt wasnt nearly as easy as expected. the lips were a little gnarled from use so it would probably be easiest to do on fresh pedals.

ZiP0082 01-07-09 09:35 AM

but the nickels weigh like .0005 grams more :(

So what's the deal? She delete all her posts?

chore4n 02-27-09 08:24 PM

My friend found longer bolts to hold the clips in, and that held his Toshi doubles in fine, but not as much as if he had the two slots of course.

Geordi Laforge 02-27-09 09:46 PM

...twist them, then.

B:H Pusher 02-28-09 10:41 AM

i just picked up some white all city's yesterday. there wellgos i guess. about the same as the GR-9's

Carlovahnsexron 02-28-09 11:38 AM

Laforge is correct, the nuts come in a little bag.

B:H Pusher 02-28-09 09:14 PM

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...O/IMG_0478.jpg hot. shoulda got smaller clips though. for the affinity

Jcrew689 03-01-09 12:23 AM

Hey I've got a pair GR-9's and I'm about to get some toeclips for them. What are your guys' thoughts on aluminum vs. steel? I've heard the aluminum ones are prone to snapping. Also how long do the steel ones last until they start to rust?

REMspeedwagon 03-01-09 12:28 AM

Alloy/Aluminum clips, for me, are to flexible.
They bend and stay when you step on them too.

Thetank 03-01-09 02:05 PM

Alloy/steel clips over aluminum any day unless you want to replace clips every week.

Here's my setup with home-made doublers so you CAN run doubles on GR9s by using a 1" bolt holding the clips in place instead of the 1/8" they come with.

How'd you make those doublers? That looks perfect. I've got two sets of singles, and I want to convert them into doubles. I'll get longer bolts to hold in the second strap, and was thinking of just making a doubler out of zipties, or tape, or smth weak, but this is exactly what I want.

They're really not that similar. Unless you mean about the same price?
