Numerous other racers gave it a shot and found that the position sucked for them, hence why you see so many of those frames in the aftermarket.

Just say no to ridiculous seat angles!

Especially when mentioning English bikes. Many of the Japanese builders learned from the Italians as well, and their style influence is immediately apparent.

That vigore is bananas.

Wish I could get a picture of the gold bike hanging in Carnival. IIRC, it's a 3rensho (deathhare, any recollection?) with front and back hand-painted disc wheels. And the weirdest bullhorns....

It looks like the only thing they didn't change was the crankset. Crazy.

This isn't a track bike, or even a fixie, but it is really weird. Thoughts?

can someone please please please give me the address for Punch cycles in Arakawa. Japanese customs officials lost my left crank (a beautiful old Suntour Superbe from 1984), so I need to track (sorry for the pun) down a new one - or something similar.

Thanks so much Deathhare. I'm living in Koto-ku, so I'm just across the Sumida from there. I spoke to a guy riding a Kalavinka one night who said Punch was a great shop - but I didn't have a pen to take down the address.

Speaking of Kalavinka's - my little boast for the day - my track bike is now the proud owner of Tanabe-san's forks. He sold them to me when he found he couldn't drill my track forks for a brake.

They're the Superbe Pro cranks - mine are one model earlier, plain old Superbe. I've raced on them for more than a decade.

Deathhare (or anyone) where's Carnival? Address or directions please.

I rode out to Punch today - closed! That place is so trusting though - he had left two track frames and a set of Nisi rims outside.

Went and saw Yo La Tengo tonight. Those guys must be in their 40s now and they still rock. I can't hear a thing I'm writing.

Oh, looking at the pics I uploaded above - what'd I do wrong? Why are they so small?

You should have told me you were going. Punch isnt open till around 7:30pm. Some random days he's closed.
Carnival is hard to find actually if you dont know where it is. I dont know the address either. I just know where it is.

In Shibuya/Harajuku.

Google map.

I dotted it here:

(sorry about the quality).

From Harajuku walk down the hill/main street to the Gap intersection. Turn right and it's down that way. On the second floor of the building, above WBase (the bmx shop).
