I sold it back, maybe he'll post new pictures of it, i didnt take any thinking i would later after i repainted it, but i decided to pursue other bike builds.

Bikes: 1.5 Raleighs

why are these bikes called funny bikes? Also what advanategs are there to have seat stays tie into the top tube instead of the seat tube?

Hopetoditchcar In the 1980s these bikes were dubbed "funny" just because they looked funny.

And there's no benefit in having the seat stays join the top tube - the theory was it made for a stiffer rear triangle - but of course it also increases aerodynamic drag (and is banned by cycling's governing body, the UCI, now anyway).

I like how the stem on the Colnago is EXACTLY the same angle as the top tube.

But needs a link taken out of the chain.

Bikes: Gazelle Trim Trophy, EG Bates Track Bike, HR Bates Cantiflex bike, Nigel Dean fixed gear conversion, Raleigh Royal, Falcon Westminster.

I think it's more to do with the term "funny car", which was a class of dragster long before funny bikes existed. People just took the term and applied it to bikes.

Could you even pedal that without hitting the ground?
