Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

here's what it looks like right now. the only difference betwen the photo and it's actual appearance are the pedals. i finally spent some time to get my SPDs off my old bike and put em on, but that was after the photo was taken.

full specs for whoever's interested:

Frame: 2003 Surly Steamroller, 49cm
Headset: Cane Creek S2, black. 1" threadless
Stem: ITM Road Racing, 80mm, 80deg, black.
Bars: ITM Super 330, 42cm, black.
Bottom Bracket: Shimano UN-53
Cranks: Sugino 75. 49t for commuting, 50t for racing.
Chain: KMC 1/8"
Saddle: Selle Italia Nitrox
Racing Wheelset: Velocity Aerohead rims, Surly hubs, Surly 15t cog + lockring. Panaracer Stradius T.T. tires, 700x20c. Kenda ultra-light tubes.
Commuting Wheelset: (FRONT) FiR rim, Campy Veloce hub (REAR) Alex rim, Suzue hub, Surly 16t cog + lockring. mixmatch tires, kenda tubes.

this thing is a BLAST to ride. i haven't felt this good about a bike in quite some time.

the steer tube.. well, i didnt want to cut it too short and find out i wanted the bars higher. once i get the bars where i'm comfortable i'll take off the excess, if any.
