Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Right now I weigh around 180 and am 6'2. I have a PowerTap on my road bike and can put out a max of around 1500-1600 watts, I don't know how much I can leg press though. I don't have the wheel on my bike during the winter so I would assume my max is significantly less right now. I think I know where you are going with this so lets hear it.

Are you sure? I've gone through probably at least 40 chains in my lifetime with riding as varied as BMX, road, mtb, track, and street fixie. I definately have never held back in my riding. I broke 2 frames last year. I've bent handlebars, seatposts, cranks, and tacoed wheels, but I've never had a masterlink on a chain fail. You must be doing something wrong.

Bikes: , Jury Bike, Moto Outcast 29, Spicer standard track frame and spicer custom steel sprint frame.

I am 6'4" and about 220# and am a sprint maniac so I have had the displeasure of those two pins in the chain spreading apart on me it is very unfortunate and it hurt rather bad I have friends who are more in you weight group and have had no problem with a quick link riding cross fixed what ever but it is just my luck I guess

or maybe it is a physique thing who cares to each his own when it happens to you you will change you mind but until just ride man
