Anyway, my Banjo Brothers bag will easily fit a case of beer (still in the box) and it was only $85, shipped. I'm thinking that's among your most economical options.

Or a rack and a big ass pannier.

Think outside the panniers. There are many mail-order homebrew supply stores. One shop in Long Beach regularly shipped to a brewer at the South Pole.

It seems to me... my brethren of the fixi-licious... that the more ponderous question is, not how we carry the hoppy nectar of the gods in our bags... but more importantly... how do we fare when carrying it in our guts??? More than a few nights peddling towards a sobriety that never never comes...

Sounds like reason #121123123 to get a trailer. it detaches from your lovely fg when you're finished with it and can be used to haul all kinds of ****.

And if you want to go to brick and mortar places, I've definitely carried homebrew supplies (fermenters, i.e. 5 gallon buckets, and a disassembled bottle tree for drying sanitized bottles) on my bike/in my bag.

Not to mention bags of malt and hops that fit nicely in the internal water bottle pockets of the Banjo Bros. bag.

I did break a hydrometer that way, though.

Please, a case of beer is nothing if you have a rack on the back of your bike. I transport a 5 gallon thing of water on the back of my bike. You should see the people at the co-op when I strap it on with a ratchet tie and a strap. They think I have lost my mind I think. It sloshes around when I ride and can shift the weight of the bike pretty bad if I am not careful. It is only like 5 miles or so away, so it isn't that bad. It is messing up my rack though. A trailer is another idea to haul ****ttt.

A rack can handle a case of beer with ease.

If you don't want a rack then a large backpack may do the trick. I never tried it. My backpack is pretty big and cheap. You would have to take the bottles out of the case and if they don't all fit, just drink the ones that won't. Simple really.

Maybe invest in a new bag? Perhaps this will help you figure out how much you can grab in a trip:

I was a-gonna mention this very same notion. You could make one (AWESOME). I have a couple ideas...
Attach it to the seat tube, by cannibalizing one of those trail-a-little-kid-on-a-half-a-bike-behind-yours contraptions.
Make a bracket out of an old frame, using the dropouts to attach it to your rear hub (might need a new/longer spindle, and might not work if your frame has track ends).

Now that I think of it, I have a buddy who is looking for a welding project. I smell some DIY!!!

In addition...

Ok I was just working on this shared problem and ran into something interesting.

https://www.stonesbeverage.com

It's one of the biggest distributors in Philly and they have trucks delivering cases and whatnot around the city (for a few bucks) all day. The guy said their last truck goes out at 6PM so you'd have to order before then. Just go to the site, check what they have in stock, call up, and order. It doesn't solve the bike issue but it does solve the beer issue. There's supposed to be another service at beerrightnow.com that serves Philly but it seems to be down right now.

Woohoo! Case of Victory Old Horizontal barleywine on the way..
