Stack height on gt gtb with stock fork

I have been wanting to replace my stock tange headset on my gt gtb with a better headset. but dealing with the stack height it has been very hard to find a headset that would work well with this set up. I would rather not hunt around for another fork, since i like the stock steel fork.

Has anyone else dealt with this problem?? I want to install a chris king, but the stack heights just aren't working out. Has anyone done milling? and was it effective?? Any other ideas etc would be great!

Thanks

I switched to a carbon threadless and was done with it.

What size frame do you have?

I replaced my stock fork with a carbon one. You can have the old stock one for cost of shipping, it came off a 56cm frame. If your frame is 54 or smaller it might do the trick. Let me know if you want it and I'll measure the steerer length and lenghtth of threads.

I remember the stack height on the stock headset was very small.

i have a 58cm frame. but thank you for the offer same time. very generous of you.

I guess I'll have to hope the milling goes as planned and the measuring works out for a chris king. if not drop money on a fork that I reeeeeallly hope I don't have to buy. I'm getting her powdercoated soon and the decision has to come haha.
