old & beat messenger bags

Okay.. sooo i've searched this forum.. seen some amazing custom bags.. looked at fixedgeargallery and i'm pretty sure this will be a new thread

I just ordered an Under The Weather Messential bag.. and now i'm interested in seeing pictures of your old/worn/beat/lived & loved messenger bags... (R.E.Loads and UTW mostly.. but i'll take anything)

I think it would be an eye opener for lots of people to see what these amazing bags look like years down the road!!

thanks!

After a year of daily use, my reload looks pretty good. All the colors have faded a bit, there's wear on any corner, and the strap is pretty worn from adjustment. Internally, it's as new.

No pics, sorry.

nice! what colors?

i'd been using an old Echo DJ sling bag for years.. even before i've rediscovered the joy that is riding.. it's red and black and is a great bag.. but sucks as a bike bag.. i'll post a picture soon.. I also have an orange timbuk2 laptop bag my girlfriend bought so we can carry our macbook.. but again.. nice bag if your NOT on a bike.. swings around and sucks..

Uh, it's a blue bag. The flap is a Mondrian-esque design. Red, white, blue, and yellow rectangular shapes separated by black lines. It's a great bag. Surprisingly, the white's held up pretty well.

It doesn't wear out, it wears in! No, really!

Nice, I have the same bag, but mine looks virtually brand new. You put me to shame sir.

I've had my seagull for 4 years now... there are barely any worn spots on it at all. The only thing that's fading at all is the silk screen he did on it (this was back before he was doing any embroidery.) The strap is sooooooo smooth on it now that I am actually a little happier in my day when I adjust it.

nice! thoes zo bags look great.. I looked at his store on ebay and saw they were going for almost 400.00.. yikes.. whats with that? are they worth it? don't see them reviewed too often.. but again, beautiful..

People were buying zo bags from Erik for $120 only to turn around and immediately sell them on eBay for $400 themselves. Erik, quite reasonably, figured he ought to get that money.

badevilcow 03-01-07 05:39 PM

yikes.. thats rude.. (of people, i understand erik doing that) i ordered a custom color bag from under the weather.. and they were the most pleasant and friendly people to order from... totally blew me away with the level of customer service they provided...
I was considering zo bags also.. but I could not find much about how their bags are made on their website.. and the price on ebay made me grin, if not cringe.. made the decision to buy a UTW alot easier!!

but to each their own.. i think i'm developing a bag fetish per say.. i've visited every single webpage for every single maker and I can't wait to see more

cheers!

yeah I'll tell you what.. your zugster bags, sir are pretty hot... it's gotta be a fun and crazy time to be a messenger bag maker.. there are a bunch of good people making great products.. i must say as a consumer.. i have not enjoyed 'shopping' this much in awhile...;) i made my choice of company.. but in an ideal world i'd have one of each from everyone

cheers!

ALAS
My bag is pretty new so it won't fit in here just yet. I found my old one while packing the other day and I was going to take a pic but it was all wet and reeked of cat pee so I had to toss it out :(

this bag was a hand-me-down from my roommate. i've had it for 3+? years, who knows how long he had it. oldest timbuk2 i've seen. probably because everyone has bags that are still waterproof now.

666pack 03-01-07 10:01 PM

damn, that is an old timbuk2. one panel and no zipper pocket on the outside between the velcro.

Two things:

1. I love and miss you.

2. My Chrome Bag Sucks, too.

/edit - bicycles.

badevilcow 03-01-07 10:47 PM

yeah that timbuk2 is awesome! why the heck don't they look like that anymore.. wow...

and you all thought this thread was funny
this is like a museum

doofo 03-01-07 10:56 PM

i like it dirty but that bag would come nowhere near my bed

kjohnnytarr 03-01-07 11:02 PM

I haul **** in a older patagonia half-mass, or something along those lines. I dunno exactly what it is, to be honest; I pulled it out of the lost and found where I used to work.

It's a bit on the small side, but I like it. Like jim-bob said: it wears in, not out.

Mueslix 03-01-07 11:33 PM

Fixxxie, you could've rescued that cat pee bag with some ammonia. Bad kitty! Of course, you probably would've still had memories of what happened to it.

Nope, I haven't been to mass in over a decade.

(Black with white tape was one of the most popular bags, there should be a ton out there. I don't think he even discovered other colors of reflective tape until the late nineties or so.)
