I'm Thinkin of Getting My Bag Customized

Okay I have a Chrome Kremlin bag and want to get an extra strap put on by my the dry cleaners around where I live. Do you think they have the machine suitable to do the job? This will be way cheaper than sending it out and having another bag company do it since I know the ppl at the cleaners and they will prob give a good deal. What yall say?

And completely screw up any waterproof chracterisitcs your bag may have had. There's a reason that custom designs should go on the bag BEFORE they're ordered.

yea thanks. i found pretty good prices on ebay for buckles and nylon. $9 for 25 buckles and $7 for 10 yds of nylon. i wanna use the nylon to make these in case of large loads and the extra ill attach to the mid top portion to give the x strap im looking for. Im gonna use an old bookbag shoulder strap for the extra strap padding to go over my shoulder

Very true. Also I have a Baileyworks bag and the strap attachments are sewn on through the vinyl liner and I have no problem with water getting into my bag.

Also you could just use seam sealer made for sealing hiking gear to waterproof the seams you make. Show pictures when you finish.

remember it is a floating liner with a two needle surface stitch machin there is no need for a bobbin you can pull the liner out and sew away if done right you won't ever scratch the liner

I know Ebay is great and all but what are you going to do with the other 24 buckles and 9 yards of nylon?

Bikes: bfssfg iro--black.

clear nail polish.
it'll seal up the holes in the liner from sewing through both layers... but that's not really applicable for this instance.

Here's the plan

The yellow clip represents the inserter and the green is the buckle. I used a bookbag straps which has padding in it already and allows for adjustment of the strap as well. By the looks of it it may turn out good depending on how good the sewer does it.

Closed, Open. It's attached by velcro and you pull off the velcro and out comes the shell. Pretty easy. I used some soft foam to make a back cushion in it as well. Not very hard at all but very easy.

here's a better pic i found here

well it still is pretty much removable but why want the whole thing removed when that's the only source of water-proofing

I thought this thread was going to be about tattoos and piercings.... (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

+1 on the seam sealer idea. Check a local sporting good store, or campmor.com
