Need new frame and I hate ebay

I got hit by a SUV the other day, and dented my frame pretty bad. It'll now be a polo bike at best (need to learn to play polo now...). It is/was a Soma Rush, and I'm now looking for something slightly nicer.

I hate ebay, so I prolly won't be ganking a "kirin" frame or a "4rensho."

Sooooo BF, name me some good frames that are lighter and stiffer than the rush, with similar or tigher geometry. Steel and Al both have their benefits, so I could go either way. I'm thinking like $750 or so range.

Bikes: yes

****, didn't know the rush was done for.

if i were in your shoes, i'd be looking at some different sources. for all purpose city track bike sort of thing i'd be looking at a bareknuckle. then there's the possibility of one of the affordable custom frames like Bob Jackson - but that probably doesn't have the grometry you wants. there are also used track frames at fyxomatosis.com that are definitely worth a gander.

isotopesope mentioned marinoni - yeah, they make great bikes by all accounts.

you want brake mounts for this bike?

Bikes: Old-ass gearie hardtail MTB, fix-converted Centurion LeMans commuter, SS hardtail monster MTB

www.keirinculture.com is a good alternative to Ebay. Decent frames, modest selection, fair prices.

I'd also try calling up ReLoad. They might have something that isn't on their site?

*edit - This Stratos has a 56cm TT and is $700. The winner is YOU!

front brake yes -- but that is more of a fork issue.

jackson custom doesn't sound bad at all actually... or maybe another cheaper custom frame only... hmmmm....

Bikes: yes

check in with sasha, too - you never know. i think i remember a post by dylandom about a bike shop in bklyn somewhere, that has hundreds of forks lying around. it's totally possible to find a decent, used, drilled fork. swap in, swap out.

BJ, i believe, might not be as tight as you might want, but the price is right and so are the looks.

what other cheaper customs come to mind?

also, there's a Euro Track Frame on fyxo that's 55square: https://www.fyxomatosis.com/viewpage.php?page_id=8

Didn't you used to have dreads, and candy-bar-length flatbars?

Doesn't soma have a lugged frame that's a little steeper? Check it out and let me know if you need me to order one for you.

generic - where do you live, is craigslist a viable option? Im a big proponent of buying second hand frames. you can get more for your dollar if you dont mind some chips in the paint.
