anyone know who makes this top tube pad?

yep, that's my old bike (now sold) and my top tube pad, and yes, like someone else said it's a r.e.load pad. but what does it have to do with risers? well kiddo, them there are risers attached to that stem and flipped into an unconventional angle. the whole thing was great for sprints and picking up fast acceleration, not so hot in the comfort department though (especially for long rides). a novel way of running bars though, maybe for an alleycat or something where you're just going to be hauling ass. drops and bullhorns accomplish the same thing though. and i've just gone on a tangent that has lasted way too long.............

what seriously?

anyone got an online store for nitto risers? googling didn't turn up anything useful. I'm thinking about getting about eventually getting (girlfriend for birthday) a second stem/risers for my bare knuckle build.

did anyone esle scratch the **** out of their 2" ProTapers trying to cram them into a quill stem?

cuz i sure did.

luckily i got them used for cheap anyway. i'm gonna cover up the scratches with champ grips or those leather sew-on dealies from velo-orange as soon as i scrounge up a few extra bucks though. the ourys i have on there now are not agreeing with my tiny hands.

Anyone know where I can get a set of WHITE risers (25.4 clamp, 1.5-2" rise) without spending a million bucks?

Are most risers a standard thickness? I'm thinking of getting a pair and using some strong v grips I have but I'm not sure what they'll fit on besides the risers that Nitto makes (which I might buy.)

oneangrytoast 06-05-09 02:39 PM

most grips should fit most bars. the difference is the size of the "clamp" area of the bars.

most popular are 31.8 and 25.4 i think.

These are cool on BMX bikes.

Running B201 with Oury's too.

BTW anyone with B259 and Strong V's?

squeegeesunny 09-25-10 04:39 PM

Thanks Victor! I am loving it so far. I also cut my steerer tube if you didnt notice! Thought about taking it to my LBS but they are a triathlon-specific store, so they were going to charge me like $50 to cut em. -_-

it was a good experience and everything came out well!

dbwoi 09-25-10 06:17 PM

I'm definitely going to go with risers, however, I know they come way too long. How can you tell where you should cut them? Is it proportional to shoulder width?

I was actually tempted to buy a set of them yesterday...but I didn't at the end...

Yes I did noticed the new steerer tube length. Did you use a pipe cutter or hacksaw with a guide?

squeegeesunny 09-25-10 09:08 PM

If it's shorter than your shoulder width , then its stupid, but otherwise, it should be fine. Mine is at 15" right now which is 38cm... sounds just about right.
