Maybe. Mine are cut some. Theyre about 370mm. Its 100% compact city riding for me here. Tokyo is about as crowded as it gets and the lanes are narrower than the states. I think risers are good for me here..maybe another place they wouldnt be as good.

Risers def give a better control when riding in the city. Bulls are very nice but dang risers give some real competition; its too hard to judge. i ll just say they both have even perks and jerks. I love the compactness to them and they really add a simple element to a bike

yeah risers were real hard to skid on for a while but something just kinda clicked one day and now it's fine.

Yeah I guess if you're not used to skidding while holding the flat, it'd be hard... Like balls to stem skids, that would suck with risers. But balls to stem skids are for the newbies and for skid distance comps :)

Yep, the Iconic risers from NYC bikes.

damn nice use of gold above ^

max-a-mill 03-06-07 09:53 AM

risers can be really comfortable over the distance if you get them high enough...

maybe it is just from my mtb background but on my fix i can ride 100 miles on risers with no problems.

but mine are almost level with my stem which is not so popular here. also not as extremely narrow (so i can climb on them as well as on any bars that wide).

How's that MOTH frame? I've seen them around NYC before, but never seen a review or anything.

queerpunk 03-06-07 12:02 PM

i have flats on my everyday bike. at 40cm, they're wider than other bars i have, and so feel very stable. but they're plenty narrow for traffic. they used to bug my wrists, but that was when i had short mtb-style grips on them. now i've got long keirin style grips on them, which are not as soft, but also aren't as big and bumpy, so i can move my hands around and put my forearm-wrist-hands at different angles (wide on the bar, mid on the bar, close to the stem) which does make a difference. obviously not high performance bars, but they do the trick. i'll be moving over to ergo drops and hoods once it gets warmer and saturdays turn into days for nyack and beyond...

This has gone on far too long without action on my part.

I hereby officially and with great certainty rebuke this club.

You have all been rebuked.
