Gearing question.
I am still fairly new to riding fixed gear, I understand bikes to a degree,
but one thing I have not yet to even try to understand is gearing/ratios.
Could Someone please explain it to me? I am just looking for a simple breakdown, cause and effect.
Is any of this making since?
Thank you in advance.

So a Chainring and cog that are mre relative in size, will be easier?
I am looking for something that easier on me while climbing hills, and possible stopping.
Can you get carried away with ratio?
Thanks.

Play with a gear calculator. It will help you figure out gear combos. It helps to have a reference point. Find a gear you find comfortable in on a bike and enter it into the calculator. This will give you a reference for measuring if given combos are harder or easier than you want. I shoot for around 70 gear inches for moderate hills.

borrow a multispeed bike and experiment with different gear settings. Find what you like and count the teeth.
