make it fit perfectly, with some nice lugs or maybe fillet brazed with a matching stem, i think i'd be good.

yeah i say disc tabs only cause you could still run regular calipers vs. cantis, not that i have anything against em, and really i'd probably never use the disc tabs.
what would be awesome is some sloping Paul dropouts(forkends) with a derailleur hanger. Paul?

If I had to keep only one bike, it woulde be a 29er. Specificaly, a SS 29er. I have enough spare parts to convert it to FG, geared (7 or 9 casette) or even hub-internal geared.
If I didn't have a 29er (I actually don't, yet, but I am gonna, very soon), I'd keep my Explosif. It's a very versatile frame - it's the 26" version of the Karate Monkey, except it has finer tubing. But once I've tried 29ers, I am probably never going back to 26" MTBs if I can help it.

Of the bikes I have now, probably my Cross Check. I may change my mind when the Mercian gets here.
If I got to have a frame built to be my one and only, it would be steel or ti cross frame with disc tabs and sliding dropouts.
