How do so many of these guys ride with flat brimmed hats? Every time I wear a brimmed hat other than a cycling cap it just gets blown off in the wind...

maybe they just dont go that fast?

my hats don't fly off because they fit my head well.

that's not to say i wear a flat brimmed hat.

usually a green castro cap or a mn twins hat.

Pretty soon they are going to start making custom fixie-freestyle bikes with:

- shorter top tubes
- shorter wheel bases
- smaller, heavy-duty wheels
- pegs
- (still with no brakes)

some bmx flatlanders don't use any brakes. The cables get in the way and if you good you don't need brakes. You can control the wheel with your foot.

A lot of street riders don't use brakes either.

I've seen a couple trail riders without them as well. ****ing crazy.

I don't have them on my BMX though. I cut off the bosses a long time ago.

Please don't work some crap part time job so you can afford a nice digital video camera so you and your friends can take turns filming each other trying tricks you land 1% of the time.

Some say it makes you work on getting your "flow" together. Some say it eliminate the distraction of trying to feather (a braking technique). Others do it just to prove they have bike skills enough to do the same tricks without brakes.

I rode brakeless bmx for one week. The next week I replaced my tennis shoes and installed a front brake.

Nobody is talking about skateboarding.
