It's really just possible that people are afraid of track bikes becoming "too" popular. And that, usually if you can do tricks with something, and have those tricks photographed and published, it will. Like Razor scooters, and maybe pogo sticks. People will be claiming, "Oh, I got into this sooo long ago, before anyone else!" And some people, will accept, that things catch on, and get marketed heavily, and that some of the ****tiest people will be riding fixed gear. But they'll keep in mind, that those things don't matter, and as long as you have a knowledge of cycling, and you're still riding for whatever pure reason it is, you'll be fine. If people do tricks... let them do tricks. You don't have to do tricks, you can even do your best to avoid seeing them done! But they will exist, and evolve, and then possibly die off. If there is a Fixie magazine in a few years, and if it has fun tech articles and product reviews... I might actually buy some issues. Just let it be, and be humble whether you support it or not.

I just sorta want those guys to put their shirts back on.

I'm not saying that fixed tricks aren't cool or don't look like fun. I used to BMX and mtn bike and skateboard. I understand the appeal of trying tricks. I just can't understand why do something like that big wall ride on your track or converted bike when you'd be running much less of a risk of destroying your bike. I don't know about you, but I can't afford to rebuild a destroyed wheel after each time I ride.

And yet the majority of fixie riders can barely pull a half way decent skid, let alone trackstand without wobbling all over.

Trix are for kids....have been forever. Keeps ya young.....ride it, jump it, flip it, grind it, thrash it, wheelie it, whatever... just go out and have some fun with it.

For the record I like Ryan's track stand with Soul Grind(blades) foot positioning, as well as the broken fence ride shot by someone else...I'd like to see how the dismount went though. Some things scream for video.

True.

When I rode BMX and fixie in SF at the clocktower spot (BMX for tricks and fixie for transportation). Those BMXers (Pete Brandt, Andre Reyes, Bottle, Riz) had bike skillz out the wazoo and could do tricks IMMEDIATELY when they hopped on my fixie.

Funny story, Dre (one of the flatlanders) and I, on my fixie, rode to a store for drinks. He stayed outside to watch the bikes. When I came out he was doing trackstands and backwards circles on my bike that would win the typical alley cat contest.

Bush, Market, and endless sidewalk. I want my eight minutes back.

Actually, thanks to that soundtrack, I demand at least an hour back.
