bulding up a bike that doesn't look like play doh of fisher price got to it

I just got an email back from Phil.. they were supposed to be pink, but they messed up the dye.. oops!

Yeah, it was pathetic.

I bought Phils. They were nice. But in reflection, the only reason they'd be worth the cash I spent is if I cared about the cool factor, which I don't. So, Phils are not worth the cash.

Phils are just durable hubs, not the best, or smoothest rolling, they make more sense on a beater bike, thats where i use mine, cause honestly i can ride though anything,and they'll come out unfased, try saying that for loose ball Durace or campy hubs

Also, Phils have some of the best warranty's in the business. Try calling Miche when your axle breaks.

Phils are actually really slow and dont spin all that smooth without the ceramic bearings. The reason Phils are so much nicer lies in the construction. It has superr beefy axels for a track-hub and since it is machined from one solid block of Alum it is very strong. The threads have also been known to make it through some pretty ruff ****. People dont ride phils because they are fast. ****...you should be laughed at if you take them on the track. They are sealed bearing creating more friction and weigh a ****in ton. The only reason Phils are better is because of what you and I stated above. I have broken Campy hubs and bent DA axels. I do have Paul track-hubs on my Cross bike and they are doin pretty good and see some pretty knarly ****. For the track...only Campy HF C Rec.

I don't think anyone would be laughed off a track, personally, unless you're showing up with a walmart Mountain Bike and claiming you've got more speed than Mercx, if only for the fact that they actually want to race, as opposed to being someone who rides custom steel to go get his groceries.

I think Phil really said "Your tax returns are comming, spend them on these!"

I think what Juvi is sayis saying for real track racing there are lighter hubs. There are also hubs with loose balls and not sealed bearings.

Hmm, interesting, I didn't know that about Phils, I always just figured they were the best of the best, lasted forever and rolled smoother and longer than anything, but maybe I was a little off.

Well I'm glad I got my Formulas. I like the look better than the old Suzue Promax's I had. Phil's definitely have that bling factor but they're way more money than I'd ever want to spend on a single component, bike frames excluded.

I have had both of the promax hubs ( Sealed and njs hubs) They are my favorite.
