75psi blow out at my feet. RINNNNGGGGGGGG this is the last time im reusing tubes!

Don't know what to do with the front wheel... cause that one just sucks. And the used bike place didn't have anything much better. The tires are really nice though.

I need brake levers (5eu, new), and i think i have all the cable (and housing) i need.

floor pump (second pic), 75psi, not that high. Its just it was a REALLY ****ty tube.

dutret 03-16-07 05:09 PM

****ty tube? ****ty tire? improperly mounted tire? or wrong tube?

Great tire, old ****ty tube.

For the rear, i hope i sized the tube right, and i checked, doesn't look like its pinched anywhere.

i do this all the time with junk bikes. most of the time you can do it for the cost of brake pads, tubes, and tires. i find the rear brake cable is usually the most ****ed up thing on the bike. most of the time i do it with abandoned bikes but sometimesyou can find a decent bike at the dump.

You could have just tried getting some $20 yardsale/craigslist/thrift store MTB/80's road bike and stripped it. Not saying that would be better but just saying that converting a bike to singlespeed can be very very cheap.

btw your ride is looking pretty cool so far, aesthetically though it might look better with the bars flipped down and the stem lowered (not sure how you fit, but I also prefer a more aero position because I'm into drops and bullhorns).

diff_lock2 03-17-07 06:04 AM

In the second pic you can see TT bars... i like them, but they look ******** and are flimsy for city use. I i might grab some flats of a stolen bike thats been left out... i have a bar from a bike just like that, but its bent.

I'm getting 2 drops and brake levers for the drops, a old "race" saddle all for 10eu. The pedals and stem on the bike right now were 5eu together. I like the look of the stem, and the pedals, well i haven't tried them yet.

And yeah i see what you mean about making a 20$ bike single speed.

Like i said, next time (when i can recover from this build), probably will do that.

I also have a road bike being worked on. I need a rear wheel build. And a new free wheel. I don't know how well thats going to go.

If they're flimsy and you don't like how they look you should sell them and get a better set. If you don't want bullhorns that are long, wide, and have a deep drop, maybe you should just flop and chop a set of your drop bars. I did that for my conversion, and they work pretty nice (would be better with anatomical drops imo). They're shorter, narrower, and thus much stiffer than real bullhorns. Better for city riding, basically like a very narrow MTB flat bar with bar ends.

Thats what i use daily on my commuter.

EDIT: once i get the drops, i will check out "chops"...

I really don't think it looks like anything, but it rides great. As you can see i have a few drops there, im going to try them out. Also i got a slimmer saddle, that think is just hilarious.
