I kind of like this justice!

Hocam 03-16-07 09:17 AM

If he has car insurance you can get **** tons of cash for this. If he doesn't he'll probably just go to jail for a few months for assualt with a vehicle or something like that.

piratelove 03-16-07 09:54 AM

Thanks for all the info... I'm feeling somewhat ok today..

I hopped in the shower and scrubbed everything out as best I could.. all while screaming at the top of my lungs. ow.

Anyways, of course a police report was filed. I think about 4 police cars, an ambulance, and a fire truck showed up.
Maybe I'm just naive, but i feel pretty confident that they'll get the person.

A helmet is on the way.. for sure!

Damn you are lucky. Glad you're feeling at least a little better and its good that all the cops firetrucks etc showed up even if they weren't totally necessary. I'm sure they'll catch the guy (at least the owner of the car) and maek sure to get a good attorney and sue his ass off. Oh yeah and get agood helmet.

big dane 03-16-07 10:35 AM

Oh man this makes me so sad to read :( I'm scared that something like this will happen to me or my friends; Milwaukee drivers are not nice. I'm very glad you're pretty okay though!

benoist 03-16-07 10:37 AM

A solid mixture of your story, its proximity to home, and the rain today has inspired be to go buy a helmet. I hope all is well and that you get some justice out of this.

delicious 03-16-07 10:42 AM

Glad to hear you filed a report. You should talk to a lawyer as soon as you can, one who will sympathize with the mental trauma that you will have to deal with for the rest of your life.

That's great news. Glad to hear you're coming out ok.

If you can swing it, it's good to go to the doctor anyway, just to have that on the record . If not, take pictures of all the road rash & misc. injuries for later documentation.

I second the vaseline on road rash rec.- makes things heal much faster and more comforably. Use a new bottle, not something which has been sitting in the bathroom for years, cover with a bit of gauze.

AGGRO 03-16-07 11:01 AM

Forget about the $ issue, help get that pos off the road before he kills someone.

Be sure to take some time/date stamped pictures of your injuries while they're still raw.
Same with your bike, and get a Repair/Replace estimate.
Get signed, written statements and contact info from witnesses, if you can.
Save all medical receipts.

Best of luck and heal fast!

+1
Document everything for later.

icknayvon 03-16-07 02:12 PM

Yikes! That is bananas! (plural) Good to hear that you are alright. Good luck with all pending legal action. By the wayside are you going to be racing tomorrow?

estratton 03-16-07 02:46 PM

might wanna contact a local paper to see if they can help flush the people responsible for it out (ya never know... saying it was xyz model/year/color of car can sometimes make people curious of those they know.

just an idea.

also, heal up, keep the wounds clean, sleep w/o sheets. Look into getting those special bandaids that are not gauze, but the padding like part of a normal bandaid, as well as paper tape. Works wonders as far as keeping em covered. Also be sure to keep them out of the sun once they heal, as you might end up with some scaring.

suggestions for the future....
get gloves and a helmet. just my $.02, but I think these are the BEST things to have if you ride all the time, as the gloves will save your hands and the helmet might save your life. Better to have one and not need it than need it and not have it I guess.

Get better

First, glad to see you didn't get killed.

Second, if you're considering any legal action at all (and I would) - take the other poster's suggestion and shut up. Anything you say could potentially be used against you. For example, you say you "hopped in the shower." So I take this to mean you didn't need any assistance, that immediately after the accident you were able to carry on with normal activities, and that you even "hopped" into the shower as opposed to crawled into the tub or lying on the bathroom floor, unable to move and about to pass out from the pain - hmmm, perhaps your injuries aren't so bad as you claim.

And that's how the other side is going to spin it.

Retem 03-16-07 07:26 PM

if you still have any gravelk stuck in your skin you can use a dry sponge or old pantyhose to rub it out it hurts like hell but it is better than an infection also good call on the helmet a couple months ago I just about killed my self and three j walking drunks now I own two battle hats ( just sounds cooler than helmets ) on full face dh style and a bell ghisallo for the warmer / 110degree summers

milkman2k52 03-16-07 08:37 PM

+1 battle hats!

That's not spinning anything that's the truth. His injuries are and were not incapacitating and he should never claim they are. The only way that statement could be used against him would be to impeach perjurous statements he might make and possibly get any scumbag lawyer that would encourage them disbarred.

doofo 03-16-07 09:35 PM

it is possible that he is injured but just hasn't become aware

ebbett 03-16-07 09:43 PM

the truth??? since when does that matter? the point is that each side will attempt to place its client in the best light by emphasizing favorable facts and de-emphasizing less favorable facts. it would be very favorable to the other side if they knew he was able to casually hop in the shower. i'm certainly not suggesting that he lie. also, whatever a party to the action says is admissible against him - it doesn't just have to be for impeachment.

fordfasterr 03-16-07 10:00 PM

he may have taken a bunch of pain pills and consumed some alcohol before he attempted that maneuver with the shower...

=)

Igneous Faction 03-16-07 10:05 PM

Guys, it doesn't matter if he was running a marathon after the dude ran him down:

THE DUDE RAN HIM DOWN. Illegal! Property was destroyed!

odie91 03-16-07 10:54 PM

even if they do track down the car from the license plate number, you can bet the driver will deny he was driving the car when it hit you. if you got a look at his face through the windshield, make sure to write down what he looked like, lest you forget.

And that shouldn't effect compensation at all except to as how the motivation itself may cause damages.

If you think that somehow the extent of his injuries and incapacitation is not going to come up in any law suit involving this incident and compensatory damages you are clueless. When it does he will have to admit that he was hardly incapacitated at all. If he maintains council of a lawyer that would get him to make any statements that could be rebutted by his admissions here both he and his lawyer are peices of **** and deserve to be run down.

wtf man, who peed in your soup?

geraldinho 03-20-07 03:33 PM

yo good to hear you're ok.. not to be a downer, but you might not get any revenge through the police. Mine was a hit and run, i got a plate, had a witness, and found the person's house*my block* but the cops said they couldnt do anything. Im down for a little U-lock redemption if you're game <3

hows the damage? did you get any broken bones?

and also how's the deucycle

I went for my first little ride around the block today on my spare wheel.. yay!

Helmet + new wheel are on the way.

jaypee 04-02-07 04:04 PM

Jesus christ, man. That's ****ing gnasty. Glad you're able to ride!

Are you able to talk about any legal action that may be going on?

piratelove 04-02-07 04:08 PM

Not quite.. I'll post up when I can though.

8oh4 04-02-07 04:26 PM

arggh..

man that sucks!
looks like you'll heal up though...
where did this happen? (i missed the original post)

best of luck

wroomwroomoops 04-02-07 05:06 PM

Nasty road rash there (saw also the pics of flickr), but I hope your knees didn't sustain any long-term damage. We're all pulling here for you, man!
