Brooks and risers

Is the first thing I though when I saw my LBS's (owned by a good friend) new stock.

That is real leather, if anyone didn't know. Are there any opinions on these? Durability? I was thinking of building a black or BRG flat bar fixie with these matched to something like a Brooks because they are pretty uncommon, in Australia at least.

Nashbar sells knockoffs made of very leather-like vinyl. I have a pair that I love. They were cheap ($7?) so I think I'd be less upset if damage occurred from rain, crashes, etc. That said, the ones you posted look great.

Ooh, I totally want a pair of those for the 3-speed I'm building. Where, where?

They are made by BBB so dunno if that'll get you anywhere. I'm just curious about the leather's ability to hold up under water/sweat. Their are a few places I can imagine them looking great on, like moustache bars.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the real brooks handlebar grips:

Hah, for a second I was wondering how you had a picture of the bike I built for my wife... then I saw the bar end shifters.

The problem with those Brooks grips is that they are

A) Ugly
B) More expensive than your bike

Which to my mind, is not a good combination.

I just installed some very similar grips on my Bridgestone a few minutes age. Mine are Dimension brand and are sold by QBP. You can only get the black Dimension brand grips with red or white stitching. I got the white and I'm tempted to take a black Sharpie to them. I'd be surprised if they're not the same grips, otherwise. Mine came from https://jensonusa.com/. Probanly made in the same Taiwan sweatshop.

Crusty? Dude's probably in his 40s and sports a glowing tan! Hardly the troll under the bridge that comes to mind when I think of a curmudgeon.
