Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Now you're talking about touching dude's trees? What is that, some weird Tokyo gay palare?

Holy crap on a stick. Less than a minute from my house, as I ride around to the right of a woman crossing the road on her phone, out from behind the car runs her daughter faster than any kid I've ever seen in my life. I missed turning her into nihonjin no roadkill by about 2 inches and think my heart may still be stopped.

I was stupid. I had a hangover from last night. I read 14:00 as 4pm, so I thought I had loads of time to sleep off my hangover then ride over. At 3pm I saw the start time was 2pm.

I'm glad it turned out well - no rain and plenty of people.

Hopefully there should be pictures of it shortly. (My arms aren't long enough to take full-on pictures of myself, so we'll have to wait for someone to post them on flickr)

Man, I looked even hotter than I thought. Though Shannon puts my "beard" to shame (hence the quotations).
