Cheap SS suggestions?
I am only going to ride the bike a few miles back and forth to work, so I am looking for a super cheap component group or complete bike to commute on. Any recommendations?

In my opinion, you can't beat picking up a thrift store road bike and replacing the freewheel with a SS freewheel and shortening the chain.
Oh...and remove all the derailleur nonsense too.

Yup what they said.
My SS build turned out horrible. But I started off wrong.
What you need is a functioning(sp?) bike, then convert it. I started off with a frame alone, what a pain.

You all have never been to thrift stores in the DC area, there is nothing thrift about them. Any semi-serviceable bike runs $200.
