Referring to me as a hipster... yes or no?
I am wondering if I am a hipster in many people eyes. I don't care if I am or aren't because as many of you will find out when you get my age (41), you start not caring what anyone things or says about you. Anyway here is my story.
I bought my first road bike in the late 80's. I tend to buy really good stuff, so I bought a campy equipped Chas Roberts bike (pictured below). It is rather sweet and I ride it to this day as I don't shuffle bikes around much. Anyway, when I first bought it I rode a little while and ended up drinking beer instead for about a decade. Then I somehow got back into riding and pulled the Roberts out and upgraded the shifters and a few other things and really got into riding like crazy. Groups, centuries to the store and everywhere. Didn't like to start my car unless I had to. I then found myself a little bored and wanted to try something new. I decided to find a cool track bike and ride that. I bought the bike below and ride it all the time now. It is a blast. I tend to buy what I think is good and keep it forever. I didn't want some common Surly or whatever. I wanted something interesting.
So... Am I a hipster? Oh yeah, I might as well add that I have no brake on the bike, because it isn't drilled and I don't want to drill it.

I don't know if I'd call you a hipster, maybe just "old guy who thinks riding without a brake will help him recapture his youth".
Mid-life crisis, maybe?

Go ride those bikes. They are too pretty to take this sedentary punishment.
The minute you get worried about someone else's feelings towards you or your bikes, the best thing to +10 to block them is to ride.
Yessir.

I guess this is my study. I see justification is used here. Interesting thought.

41 isn't that old. And this is coming from a 24 y/o. You've been riding for 10+ years, which is more than the handful of years all the young kids have ridden which are giving you ****.
If you think buying a track bike is a mid life crisis be happy he's not in a Porche reving his engine and trying to run you off the road.
