Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? RH + BK - Volpe makes even less sense. Two mid range track bikes one and no geared/rough road/longer ride bike at all. why? Sell the volpe frame and buy a crosscheck or another volpe type bike.

Bikes: raleigh rush hour

because, as far as geared bikes go i'm in the market for more of a classic road bike. downtube shifters, etc. surly has some nice options but i decided i want something a little more road oriented. don't get me wrong, the volpe is a great bike. but with the riding i've been doing lately, i don't really feel i'm using enough to warrant owning it. someone with a much longer, much more loaded commute would love it. someone who is into touring would love. i've just been going on 20-30 mile road rides and going to work and back. both of which i currently love doing on the rush hour.

and like i said, the volpe is too small.

Pardon my ignorance...but why wouldn't you ride it on a long trip? I mean its bloody heavy so that's one thing, but why does the stiffness matter on long rides?

because it wouldn't absorb bumps in the road, and therefore be less comfortable on a long ride.

You think there is any chance of getting a 700x28 tire on the back of one of these? I'm in the process of setting up a Bareknuckle right now.
