Ferkin Bummed

Seriously no bueno stuff here.

So, I ordered a 2007 surly steamroller complete through my LBS and have been waiting for it for some time now do to the release date.

It was supposed to be in to day and when I went in to get it I was told that they FORGOT TO ORDER IT and that QBP is out of stock until THE MIDDLE OF JULY.

As I sit here drinking by myself instead of riding in the sun with the vatos I wonder if anyone can recommend a comperable bike for under $600.

I really don't want to wait till the end of summer to get a bike I will love.

Nah, I really don't like the look of that bike. Was thinking something a little closer to a track bike.

I mean, It looks like a road bike, It is visually too busy. cables and braze-ons all over the place.

Bikes: 1983 Bianchi Eco Pista

Hit up the Mercier Kilo TT on Ebay for $300. It looks good, has track geometry, and will be a good frame for starting out. Good frame to build up later with good parts.

Hey dosh, not seeing that on ebay.

What hubset is on that rush hour?

doofo, yeah, we have five bike shops in this rather small town but it's hard to get any of them to shine for me.

Thanks so far y'all, keep 'em coming.

Umm... See if they'll cut you a deal on a Steamroller build? Surely they would be willing to work out something for their ****up. You might not be able to get it under $600 but you should end up with a better bike.

...Or one of the zillion readily available street fixed gear machines which have been discussed to death on this board.

Oh they must be off right now. The seller, sprtymama or something, puts them up every once in awhile. here is a nice stock (except for the pedals... they come with Wellego and plastic clips I believe) picture from ihopeyoudontdie's velospace:

Here is a non stock one. They can look really great:
12XU's -
Hrrundel's -

I'll let you know if I see one pop up again.

They are the same exact bike as the KHS flite 100 just to let you know. Less Expensive though most likely.

they've got the hour up right now, which i think is a fuji track (?)

i'd email em and see if they've got any merciers laying around, if that's what you want.

Bikes: Custom Richie Ditta Track Bike, Eddie Merckx Corsa, Marioni Custom Pista, Dolan Cyclocross

What about the new Schwin Madison? Its got decent geo and the frame seems ok.

Also the cheapish Masi Special, saw some in SF recently. Looked ok in person. See this thread for more info: https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/260084-masi-speciale-fixed-anyone.html

Theres a really good thread about cheap off-the-shelf fixies here, full of useful info:

Well, I went in today and they said they'll order me a steamroller frame and help me get it built up. I'm still going to have to wait for it to come in, plus wheels and everything else. I swear, if I go another week without a bike I enjoy riding my head will implode.

I think this is the most response I've gotten to a thread on here.
