chicago! i'm really excited that you've got your goldsprints set up so well. i can't wait to see the irosprints interface in person one of these days, and you should post more video footage when you get it.

cardstock 04-02-07 09:33 AM

it ****ing ruled. Two days later and my voice is still shot and my legs still sore. Getting into the last race meant five 250m heats in about 3 hours.....it hurts

Sprinting on the tops of your drops is 'right'?

Retem 04-03-07 12:31 AM

nah this is the best picture I could find they are warming up
its also a more stable position for one who is not a roller jedi yet

deathhare 04-03-07 12:33 AM

haha..just kidding.
The roller race does seem funner to me. And more a more realistic race i think. Use your own ride too.

Retem 04-03-07 12:38 AM

it is also far more intense it is like nothing else you have to remember to breath and relax and most of all keep that cadence up

big dane 04-03-07 08:03 AM

Good thing you've got your u-lock key on your arm. You never know when you'll need to lock up your bike inside your apartment, mid gold sprint. Keeping it on the springy keychain eliminates unecessary time spent digging in you pockets that could be better spent drinking PBR.

Oh yeah, that looks like tons fun, in an antiseptic, empty apartment, two lab rats, kind of way!! Have you seen our video?? It was a ****ing RIOT of speed, beer, gambling and metal. Enjoy condo living!

No_Minkah 04-03-07 09:47 AM

You're not getting it, Simon. They are keeping it clean and classy. Not like our sweaty boozy smoky sprints party.

That's a nice setup!

Yes, that is very, very nice looking. The only problem with a setup like that, or the clean-condo setup, is that non-cyclists can't really just jump in and have some fun. This was an event to raise money to bring the NACCCs to Chicago, so the organizers wanted as many people as possible to join in. I know we had some of the bar regulars, who don't cycle, give it a spin (get it?!?).

No_Minkah 04-03-07 12:04 PM

Yeah, having fork mounts makes it more egalitarian. I can't ride rollers for *****.

Some of the regulars in the bar were betting on our races.

thiskidgotmoxie 04-03-07 12:11 PM

I hope I won someone a packet by beating your ass... :)

No_Minkah 04-03-07 12:40 PM

It's only because I didn't take off my pants.

I was wearing my super-power spandex shorts underneath.

Retem 04-03-07 12:49 PM

yes I saw the vid I am just saying when everyones drunk it turns into real fun doing roller races this was a test run in a friends garage we had about a dozen close friends by and we were all wrecked

good times keep it up and try it with the front wheel on sometime

the kid with his key on his arm works 9-5 and the races started at 6 he rode out right after work to do it..

looks fun for what it's worth.

this wasn't about riding our own bikes and making it somewhat exclusive, though. It was about getting as many people on the bikes and tearing loose.

sure, if we want to show off our balance abilities, etc - we can set one of those up. But why? I say get as many people on the bikes to race as possible.

and riding flats/on the drops is far from "right" - just sayin'
if you are in Chicago, look up IROsprints (june 23!)

Yoshi 04-03-07 02:18 PM

Riding in the drops during a roller race is pointless. There is no aero-advantage and you can't breathe as well.

Smorgasgeorge 04-03-07 02:28 PM

Good call on using the stands, though. I know after I get a few beers in me, I'm a little shaky to get on mine without holding on to something.
