I just got mine last week, it's my first fixed so I don't really have anything to compare it too. I love it so far though, the gearing is a little steep as is (something I've seen other owners mention as well) I picked mine up barely used for ~400 and feel like it was an excellent deal. From what I have read Masi isn't really the same company it used to be though, in that it is now owned by Haro and make their frames in Taiwan just like everyone else.

Judging from most of this thread very few people on here have ridden it but most seem to hate it anyway.

People always have to find something to hate. I think it's a good bike for the money.

It's not Merckx orange, it's Dukes of Hazzard orange. I like it, though.

I bought one just under two weeks ago. I think it has good geometry for street riding and agree the gear-inches are too steep for traffic filled streets. I've been mashing at 48*15 until I find the right price on a new chainring and/or cog. I like this bike a lot. My only fear is my LBS will sell a bunch and there will be a crew of orange bikes cruising around. For now, I've got the only one I've seen and everyday folks positively comment on it a lot.

Also, I'll say in my 56cm size the top tube looks pretty darn horizontal. Sure, it's sloping a slight bit when you bust out a protractor, but it would never be mistaken for a compact geo road bike. It's nice being able to use tops, hoods, and drops comfortably on the street.

I plan on posting a pictures and a review in the next week. Out of town this weekend, but I'll get something together. Promise.

Obviously not all bikes are made in Taiwan, it was a generalization. Guilty as charge. That being said, off the top of my head I can name a number of brands that do manufacture their frames over there. Mainly I was comparing them to the other formerly European manufactured companies such as Bianchi, Windsor, Motobecane etc.

Don't know if this is true most places, but it is sure true here. Very negative if you look at threads. Sort of a depressing group really.

Me on the other hand just enjoy life.

Enjoying the good life,

There are a couple floating around DC/NOVA, I almost picked one up for a daily beater from a bike shop I used to work at (well under the $700 suggested retail), but found a Jamis cyclocross for super cheap to convert. I liked riding it, it felt stable and had a comfortable riding position.
