Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? The thread is still here to provide mild amusement to posters and readers. Isn't that the whole point of having a forum?

This conversation doesn't have to continue here, as it's out of place, but your statement lends itself to you agreeing with the naive (western) assumption of the totalitarian nature of any communist society (of which, regardless, the world has never seen)\\
I thought the Amish communities were pretty close to "true" communism. Funny how Marx said communism would begin in industrialized nations like Britain when in fact, Russia, China, Cuba, etc. were anything but industrialized.

Speaking of funny, I think the critical massers should all have bells on their bikes. They are very effective; here's proof

Well, communism essentially require industrialization before it can happen, capitalism, rather than a sort of serfitude/feudal land ownership system, is a prerequisite.

This is one of the primary reasons for the downfall of the soviet union. They did remarkably well with what they had, but having no true industrialization prior to the revolution, and having to fight multiple wars against a world that is trying to stomp your brains out put a damper on things.

That and stalin. Had Trotsky become the head of the party after lenin, the soviet union would most likely still be around today.

I like how the guy has his crying kids right in the thick of the confrontation, and all the way through. If I didn't know that cars are bad and critical massers are never immoral hippie d-bags I would say he is exploiting their presence for the cameras. Thanks Dad!

I love that you said "dudebro."

You're one of two people I've ever witnessed use that, and the other is myself.
I do, in fact, love you.

now back to wading through this thread.

It's funny that people act like decling medical attention is a big deal.

I don't have insurrance, and I sure as hell would not be taking a thousand dollar(minimum) ambulence ride to a thousand dollar hospital bill if i could ride or walk away from an accident.

just like when I had my oldsmobile years ago, and someone backed into me in a parking lot. There wasn't really any significant damage, and i decided it wasn't worth my time/****ing this guys day up because of a tiny mark on my car to involve insurance. He was grateful, and I (and essentially, the car) was fine.

But i guess I was crazy in that situation too.

them being old confused and scared isn't a saving grace for them, if anything they are more at fault in my eyes.

I'm frequently dodging cars driving by old people who are rushing off somewhere to die. And i'm speaking from the viewpoint of pedestrian, bicyclist, and motorist.

right but you are talking about a different problem

not one that can be addressed by a crowd screaming at a particular couple

but how long does it take you to put a vehicle in reverse when 1)you can feel you have run something over and 2) people are (even if yelling) letting you know that you are parked on top of multiple bicycles.

i don't care how chaotic a situation is, if you are capable of rational thought and also capable of driving a motor vehicle, you should know not to park atop things.
