wow... awful lot of us video editors. except i edit cartoons. some are specifically online and some are for nickelodeon. it depends on the client. last year i was messing in boston and i was working retail for a few years. i've also done a lot of commercial roofing in new jersey.
messing in boston has been one of my favorite jobs, but definitely not the best paying. one of these days i'm hoping someone will pay me for being so pretty. |
I'm the old guy. Network and Systems Engineer for the past 20+ years (yes, before web browsers and the 'Internet'). Now working for one of the biggest networking companies in the world. Figurative artist working in oil, pastel, watercolor, and graphite at night, also for the past 20+ years. The first pays the bills for the second.

I am the older guy. Philosophy Professor by day and one-man cycling gang by evening and weekend.

i feel like a ****** alot of the time, i dont like selling persay, i would really rather be just an "order taker". I guess i could make alot more money if I tried to sell to everybody that walk up but, the money is pretty ok anyway so i dont worry. I like somebody said earier, I look at shifts as bike parts so it makes things alot easier on slow days. |
Intern architect, which is the title you get when you work at an architecture firm before you're licensed. I work at the Pittsburgh office of a national firm that's known for designing houses and Apple stores, but we do a lot of research/lab buildings for universities and such.

haha I'm being asked a lot of personal info. Ok, here it is:
I'm an art student at Carnegie Mellon. Sometime earlier someone mentioned they didn't have a fixie/were buliding it up. Dude. That's bullsh*t. You have the freedom to post wherever you want-- just because you don't have a fixie doesn't mean you're any less of a person. If it makes you feel better, my fixie is in the works because I stripped one side of the hub and potentially just stripped the 2nd/spare side. Given better weather conditions, time, and a little bit of extra $$-- I will try to check the hub, buy a GOOD cog, and retry my fixed passion... but for now I'll just ride my single speed. I worked at PhiloTV on 9th st (In SF). It's part of Lieberman Productions and works the post production, editing, and graphics side of the company. They're responsible for all of those (here's the kicker) infomercials done for Guthy Renker. ProActiv solution (yeah, you get to see all those celebs), Core Secrets, and a lot of other beauty products for older women. I worked as an intern there and may have a good foothold to go farther. I'm more interested in the assistant editing position since that kept me on my feet and challenged me to think up solutions quickly. The assistant editor I worked under was a pretty good guy and walked around 2 miles a day (he used an odometer once) traveling between editing rooms and the machine room. I think that's more satisfying that sitting infront of a computer editing video to a script. Especially an infomercial. Sorry, I don't mean to completely diss anyone's line of work. I'm just saying that it is not for me. I can't even sit still and watch soccer on TV. I get too antsy and want to play. Anyone know of any screen printing shops in SF? Maybe I can look into them this July. I'll probably try and check out some museums/galleries and see if they are hiring... and who knows-- I might try my hand applying to some small design firms. Anyway, I don't want to ask too many questions about job searching (that's my battle.) I'm pretty pleased with the way this thread is turning out. |
I make video games for home consoles.

Concierge at W Seattle Hotel. Just got a promotion...my new title is W Insider....like a liason between guests and hotel. I am also an international ****** on my off-time.

Just got out of being a full time bike mechanic. Scary job.
Now going back to being a student, and starting a job which makes people fat by serving them extra large, sugar-laden coffee drinks. :D |
Its weird to see so many planners.
I'm a Planning and Urban Affairs major with a Comp Science minor. I work nights as a barrista at a local coffee shop and help run the local Bike CoOp. Any of the established planners want to throw an internship my way? I'd love you forever. |
